The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphics card is a solution based on the AMD M785G chipset (integrated). The video card was released a very long time ago, and even at the time of release it could not boast of high performance. Partly because of this, the decision was not well received by customers.
The core of the card is made using the 55-nm process technology, and its frequency is 500 MHz. It uses only 4 texture units, as well as 40 stream processors. The bus width is 64-bit, the frequency is 400 MHz (effective is equal to 800 MHz).
The new and unique technology used in the new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 was ATI Stream. Interesting is the ATI PowerPlay technology, which is able to change the frequency of the graphics core in dynamic mode depending on the load. This results in energy savings when the laptop is idle. The technology allows you to save battery power, which is extremely important when the device is offline.
The test results of the integrated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 card showed that it is able to play modern games with a comfortable FPS value and at a resolution of 1024x768. The closest competitor to this video card is Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics , which is inferior in performance to the model under consideration from Radeon.
Game testing
It can definitely be said that the card is not a way to provide a consistently high FPS in modern games. But the games that were released in 2004 and 2005, she is able to "pull". At a minimum, the popular shooter of that time, FEAR, on average graphics settings will show an average of 23 FPS. High settings of the same FEAR are "unplayable" in this graph. About the games released in the period 2006-2009 in general it is not necessary to speak. A system with this video card can only pull the Devil May Cry game at low settings with a more or less normal FPS (about 20 frames per second), but even then artifacts and "braking" in games are not ruled out. But for popular shooters like Crysis or Battlefield, the performance of the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 will be clearly not enough. Only old and undemanding games will go on systems with this video card.
