History of the Cross Exaltation Church in Belgorod
As you know, in 1862 a small church was built in Belgorod. It was called the Holy Cross Exaltation. The book "Belgorod with the county", which was published in 1882, describes the events that sanctify the construction of the temple. It says that the church was built at the expense of the merchants Mukhanovs (Egor and Nikolai were famous winemakers) and Countess Lastovskaya A.V.
According to another version, indicated in the "Historical Bulletin" in 1910, it is said that the temple was built at the expense of another person - Anna Varlamovna Bogdanovich.
Historians report that a mistake could have been made in the construction date. At the moment, it is no longer possible to determine the exact date of erection. The discrepancies in historical sources about the means by which the temple was built are explained by the fact that donations could be made from different people and at different times.

Later, after the death of the landowner, a voice was heard to one blind man, who asked to pull the cross out of the quagmire. They took out the shrine, and the blind received his sight by touching the miraculous Cross.
They put the cross on the stage, believers began to come to him, he healed many. Later the cross was transferred to a small chapel, then to the Nicholas Monastery in Belgorod. The shrine was moved to the Holy Cross Exaltation Cathedral in 1863, where it is today.

- In the same year, an eleven-year-old boy was healed by oil brought from an icon lamp at the Holy Cross.
- In 1886, the peasant was able to cure a sore leg, which was advised to amputate.
- In 1887, Priest Solodkov was able to recover from pneumonia by defending a prayer service in the Holy Cross Exaltation Church in Belgorod.
- In 1889, the mother of two sons, one of whom died, brought water from the Holy Cross Church and gave her a sick son a drink, after which the child recovered completely.
