What is pms?

Nature has created a woman so that her whole life depends on the cyclical processes of the body. This is due to the function of procreation. Every month, the woman’s body prepares for conception, producing certain hormones. If pregnancy has not occurred, then menstruation begins and the body, after its completion, prepares all the forces again for a possible procreation. These processes are controlled by sex hormones. Depending on how much they are produced, all processes will be balanced or in imbalance. The predominance of one or another sex hormone or its lack leads to strong changes not only at the physiological, but also at the psycho-emotional level. Normally, this should not be. Nature conceived everything reasonably and harmoniously, but modern life is very different from prehistoric. Constant stresses, lack of adequate physical activity and malnutrition lead to the fact that the hormonal background becomes unstable and the body begins to respond to this in a bad way. Thus, many women on themselves begin to feel what PMS is.

One of the obvious manifestations of this imbalance is premenstrual syndrome in women, abbreviated as PMS. Its manifestations are due to the production of more than necessary hormone estrogen, and a lack of progesterone. This combination begins to lead to negative neuropsychic manifestations, vegetovascular, somatic and from the endocrine system.

What is PMS, many women do not recognize themselves, but thanks to the people around them. It is rather difficult to notice and realize the change in behavior and the reaction to others that this syndrome leads to. From the side of the nervous system, it, as a rule, manifests itself in increased irritability, emotional instability, inadequate perception of reality. In such a period, it seems to a woman that no one loves her, that she is ugly, that everyone is against her. This condition will continue until the onset of menstruation, until estrogen production returns to normal. A study was conducted that showed that most of the crimes committed by women occurred precisely at the time when they had PMS syndrome. Also, most accidents are committed by women with PMS. Such a destructive effect on the psyche indicates that it must be identified and controlled.

In addition to pronounced emotional reactions, at the physiological level, headaches can occur with PMS, pain in the lower abdomen, as well as in the lower back. Also, jumps in blood pressure, heart palpitations, dizziness, nausea, and even vomiting are also possible.

On the part of the endocrine system, increased sensitivity, soreness and engorgement of the mammary glands are noted. Many begin to notice acne, which increases during this period. During this period, more fluid begins to linger in the body, which leads to a temporary increase in body weight. Increased appetite, drowsiness, or insomnia are often also possible.

Having found out what PMS is, experts advise taking a series of measures to eliminate it or smooth out unpleasant manifestations. As a rule, PMS symptoms begin to manifest less or completely disappear while maintaining a healthy lifestyle and taking medications prescribed by your doctor. Moderate physical activity, a healthy regime of wakefulness and rest, proper nutrition, and refusal of alcohol - all these points have a beneficial effect on our health and help it recover. The constant care of her body by every woman will allow her to never know what PMS is.
