The prophets of islam

Modern people often associate prophets with fortune tellers, clairvoyants and other people with supernatural powers. Few people today remember that in all religions the prophet is primarily called the one who has a direct connection with God, is able to speak on his behalf and is obliged to fulfill his instructions. When Islam is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is the name of the Prophet Muhammad. He is known to all, but the question of how many prophets in Islam, few can answer correctly (of course, we are not talking about those who accepted this religion, but about ordinary lay people). In fact, there are quite a lot of them.

The prophets of islam

Muhammad

In this religion, he is the main prophet. His hometown was Mecca. For the very first time, Muhammad met with an angel on Mount Hiro: he had a prophetic dream in which the messenger of God informed the future prophet of his great destiny. Muhammad for a long time could not believe that he was the chosen one, because he considered himself the most ordinary person who does not deserve such great honor. Over time, he still believed in his own way and began to preach.

All the prophets of Islam are inferior to Muhammad, as he is recognized as the most important of them. This religion claims that the words attributed to this prophet must obey all living things in this world, since these are words not of man, but of Allah himself.

Adam

He is not only the first person, but also the very first prophet. Allah chose him in order to guide people on the right path.

Idris

This prophet is in many ways similar to the Enoch of the Bible. Some identify him with the Egyptian deified king Osiris. It is believed that this particular prophet began to write in kalam, began to wear sewn clothes, and also to study ancient scriptures. It is mentioned twice in the Qur'an.

Shis

His father was the prophet Adam. This prophet is identified with Seth from the Bible.

Nuh

He is identified with Noah from the Bible. He became a prophet at the age of fifty, when Allah appeared to him and ordered to convey faith in one God to idolaters. Nuh obeyed God, but idolaters laughed at his words, for which they were punished by various calamities.

Salih

This prophet was sent by Allah to the Samudes, who were evil, arrogant and too proud of themselves. Salih was able to prove what he was saying on behalf of the gentlemen, magically creating a camel, but this seemed not enough for sinners. In the end, they all died in an earthquake, and Sallih was saved by Allah.

Ibrahim

He is identified with Abraham from the Bible. It was he who called this religion Islam, and its followers christened Muslims.

Loot

He is identified with Lot from the Bible. Allah directed him to a people mired in debauchery, but the sermons did not help, and all sinners were killed.

Ismail

God commissioned him to spread faith throughout the world. He is identified with Abraham from the Bible. It is believed that just after the story with the request of Allah for the sacrifice of a son, the sacrifice became one of the sacred rituals of Muslims.

Ishaq

He is identified with Isaac from the Bible. It is believed that he is the progenitor of Jews, as well as Jewish prophets.

Dowd

His counterpart is the Jewish king David. His main work is a holy book called Zabur.

Prophets of Islam and what they should be

The names of the prophets in Islam are recorded in the Qur'an and some other scriptures, but it is believed that their number is much larger than we know, since Allah addressed people quite often. God did not choose anyone to be among the prophets, which means that all of them should have certain qualities. These are the qualities that have been endowed with all the prophets of Islam:

  • loyalty to their work;
  • inability to lie;
  • developed mind;
  • lack of sin;
  • lack of fear of difficulties.
