History of creation

Eruption was born back in 1969. It was founded by natives of the West Indies living in the UK. The very first singles brought the guys popularity, and in 1975 they were called "the best young soul group in England." However, their worldwide fame came from their collaboration with Frank Farian, who worked with BONEY M.

Until 1979, the vocalist was Preces Wilson, who chose her own path and made a solo career under the clear guidance of the same producer and Hansa International. Eruption, meanwhile, continued its creative activity, and soon Kim Davis joined them. However, after recording the album Fight Fight Fight, released in 1980, the soloist died tragically in a car accident. A holy place is never empty, and it was replaced by Jane James, who had a beautiful voice.

Style

The genre of music Eruption was very different from the then-popular disco. The repertoire is replete with soul, funk and jazz rock compositions, which may have influenced the perception of their work by the general public. The songs of the Eruption group are created for true connoisseurs of good music - music lovers. The most famous of them are the following: Go Johnny Go, Computer Love, Runaway and Be Yourself.

By the way, Preces Wilson was the true voice of "The Ipsion", and with her departure the group lost some of its personality. Of course, her successors also sang beautifully, but the audience remembered too well the deep and soulful vocals of the first participant.

The solo work of prima from Eruption is a real gift for fans of the soul genre. She has implemented beautiful full-length albums:

  • On The Race Track - 1980;
  • All Colored In Love - 1982;
  • Funky Fingers Medley - 1984.

In addition, her 1983 LP - Aerobic Fitness Dancin, was replicated and sold more than a million copies. When the contract with Hansa International expired, Preces returned home and began working with BMG. In 1985, Wilson recorded the soundtrack for the movie β€œThe Pearl of the Nile,” starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. And in 1989, the singer made a cover of the famous hit of Donna Summer called I Feel Love, which, according to critics, sounds better than the original.

Along with this, Preces Wilson worked with Sir Elton John on his brainchild called Duets. In the 90s, the singer was spotted in the musical Blues In The Night, in which she sang one of the leading roles.

In 1994, a big surprise was made to the fans - a collection of the Erapps group called ERUPTION feat Precious Wilson, for which old friends joined together and re-recorded the best hits. Today, Preces successfully gives concerts around the world, performing singles from the time of Farian. And Eruption, in turn, successfully flashed on TV and performed in various clubs.
