When asked the Prophet what faith is, he replied: "Faith is patience." Everyone knows about the need for patience in the life of every person. This is the quality that helps to overcome all difficulties in life, to achieve assigned tasks. Achievements in any field are always due to patience and work. But many people, under the pressure of certain circumstances, forget about it. They are impatient with regard to them, and with regard to other people.
The reason for this is the difference between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Like a smoker who knows about the dangers of smoking, but is not in a hurry to quit. There must be not only awareness, but also determination. Therefore, patience must be nurtured and nurtured constantly. Only in this case will it develop and become the basis for overcoming adversity and difficulties.
Muslim patience
For an unbeliever, patience is just a means of overcoming obstacles. For the faithful, a Muslim is an indispensable component of a godly life that promises innumerable blessings in Paradise. In the Qur'an there are more than 100 verses dedicated to patience.
Allah said: "A man is impatient and intolerant of adversity. And in the good, he becomes greedy. The only exception is those who perform namaz."
The Almighty does not send trials to the believer so that he will not feel bad. And in order that he could show his best qualities, be patient and rely on merciful Allah in everything. If a person endures all difficulties steadily, he will atone for his sins completely and will appear before God already cleansed. Thus is the mercy of Allah expressed. If he wants to punish a person, then all suffering will fall upon him on the Day of Judgment. That is why patience (sabr) in Islam is so significant.
When to be patient?
Patience in Islam must be shown constantly. It is necessary for prayer 5 times a day. Without it, abstinence during fasting is impossible. To perform the hajj, great patience is also necessary. And in everyday life there are always sources of irritation and discontent. Unpleasant actions of people, natural disasters, illnesses, death of loved ones always happen. But one must always remember that Allah sends this as a mercy: "The troubles overtake only by the will of Allah." If a person is satisfied with the fate prepared for him, then the Almighty will be pleased with him.
You need to know that there is unwanted patience. One that leads to non-compliance with religious norms, religious omissions, dishonor and humiliation. Islam says a lot about patience. This is done so that every believer always understands what his actions lead to and what the will of Allah is. He must constantly pray and ask for the intercession of the Almighty and for the knowledge of his will.
Trials of the Faithful
When Allah is merciful to a man, he sends him trials. They are of two types:
1. Disaster testing.
Many disasters can fall to the share of the faithful. But only by showing patience, in Islam it is possible to receive a reward in Paradise. If a Muslim steadily endures the disease and does not complain, he is destined for heavenly goods. If something happens to his property or to his family, he will also receive a reward. And its value depends on the test. With all the difficulties of life, a true believer should not complain. Only Allah should hear his plea for forgiveness and help: "We belong to Allah and return to him."
2. Tests by well-being.
Patience in Islam should be shown with external well-being. Do not think that Allah does not experience such a person. In disasters, the need for patience is obvious. And with prosperity it is needed to get rid of pride. The faithful must remain submissive, and there is no more difficult test. In poverty, staying righteous is easier. Life itself speaks of the need to be patient. And with prosperity there is pleasure and it is difficult to remain grateful and humble. Therefore, most of the inhabitants of Paradise are poor.
Types of patience
The ayahs about patience in Islam speak of its different types depending on the test that fell.
- Patience in worship. Each person is born to worship Great Allah. Therefore, he needs constancy to perform righteous acts and religious actions. Examples include daily prayers, the performance of the Hajj: "Be patient with those who call on their God in the morning and evening."
Patience in refusing to commit sins. The faithful must refuse sinful drives. He needs patience and consistency to avoid temptations, although they are desired: "Be patient, and Allah will reward you."
- Patience in distress and misfortune. When disaster strikes, a person should thank God for not falling into an even more difficult situation. No one is immune from trials. Most of all, Allah tested the prophets and the righteous. All of them showed patience and zeal in accepting his will and took their rightful place in Paradise. If a person becomes angry and angry at a predetermined one, then he will incur the wrath of the Almighty on himself. Even with the death of a loved one, one cannot show excessive emotionality. Tearing clothes and hair on yourself, sobbing loudly and screaming is unacceptable. For sorrow there is a place for loss. But we must remember that death is the door to eternal life: "Righteous are those who have shown patience in disease, calamity and battle."
- Patience towards people. Even the closest people can be a source of anxiety and annoyance. In this case, patience in Islam implies a lack of anger and resentment. You can not humiliate a person, neglect it. It is necessary to refrain from gossip and denigrating the genealogy. Patience is best manifested when a person can punish the offender, but forgives him: "If someone shows patience and forgives, then this must be decisive."
Statuses about patience in Islam
Because of its significance in religion, patience is mentioned in many hadiths. All the prophets and the righteous spoke out about its necessity and significance. Everything that happens to the believer is only for his good: "If the believer has joy, he thanks. If trouble is, he suffers, and that is his good."
It happens that anger takes possession of a person. This is a destructive passion, and one must remember the words of the Prophet: "When anger takes hold of me, the best thing for me is a sip of patience."
To overcome obstacles and achieve the goal you need to show humility and constancy. One must rely on the mercy of Allah and his intercession: "Without patience, there are no victories, without difficulties - relief, without loss - gain."
In all life's vicissitudes, one must be steadfast. Nothing happens without the knowledge of Allah. He knows better what kind of test a believer needs: "Only when disaster strikes does one recognize the patience of a person."
How to become patient?
Patience does not mean inaction. This is zeal in achieving the goal. The best way to be patient in Islam is prayer. One must ask Allah for help in realizing the frailty of this world and that everything will return to it. It is necessary to be convinced that the Almighty will always help, and after difficulties, relief will come.
You need to reflect on patience and follow those who show it. Allah is merciful, and in everything is his wisdom. You can only complain to the Almighty and trust only in him.
If the believer adheres to this, he will soon reap the fruits of his zeal and patience. He will turn away from anger and languor of spirit, he will leave sadness. And Allah will reward him for all the hardships and difficulties that had to be overcome.
