So, what is needed to build a dog bed with your own hands? First of all, you should choose a dense natural fabric. The main thing is that the canvas is sufficiently dense and not wiped from active use. You will also need foam rubber with a thickness of about 3.5 cm. A sewing machine, a thick needle, a strong thread, a centimeter, scissors - all this is useful in making dog beds with your own hands.
Size of a berth
In order to determine what size the bed should be, you need to measure the dog when it lies on its side with outstretched hind legs. If your pet is still a puppy, then take into account the average size of an adult, if you do not want to remake the berth as the dog grows. Beds for small dogs are preferable to make a round or oval shape, so they look best. For dogs of large breeds, rectangular ones in the form of a sofa are recommended. Sewing process

For the edge of the bed, we cut out a rectangle from the fabric so that its length corresponds to the length of the future edge, and the width is equal to the width of the edge, multiplied by two. Do not forget to make allowances on each side for 2-3 centimeters. Sew the side on three sides, turn it face out and fill it with foam. Then we sew the fourth side and gently attach to the main pillow. Depending on the final type of dog bed you made with your own hands, the side can cover one side or be almost the entire perimeter, except for the entrance.
