Since the founding of the Technical School of the Post Office of 1886, based in St. Petersburg, to this day, various reviews can be read about SPbSTU. Ulyanov-Lenin, and only in 1992 began to be called the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University - LETI. St. Petersburg
Reviews about the university very often begin with a listing of the beauties, among which is the campus. This is the amazingly beautiful and famous historical center of St. Petersburg - the Apothecary Island of the Petrograd Side, next to the Botanical Garden, founded in 1714 by Peter the Great himself. The quarter of the campus is surrounded by Aptekarsky Prospekt, Instrumentalnaya Street and Professor Popov Street. For one hundred and twenty-five years of existence, the best architects of Russia designed and built educational buildings and classrooms, laboratories, conference and sports halls, as well as celebration halls, canteens and libraries.
The front facade has been preserved since 1903, and is the creation of the architect Vekshinsky. There are reading rooms and a library, some of the laboratories and the largest classrooms. The oldest faculty is the successor of the traditions of Professor A. Popov - radio engineering and telecommunications. Graduates work in such fields of knowledge as space and ground-based location, control and navigation of all types of transport, cellular and satellite communications, telecommunications services, and much, much more, or rather, almost all of this broad field of activity. The leading faculty at LETI, of course, is electronics. He is not only the main one at the university, but also one of the leaders among European scientific and educational centers involved in high-tech technologies of modern electronics. Here the foundations of such areas as plasma, vacuum and X-ray, microwave, solid-state electronics and optical, as well as quantum, are laid. This is a world of nanotechnology, micro and nanosystem technology.
The faculty of computer technology and computer science is preparing specialists who meet international standards for the sectors of the innovative economy of the Russian Federation, and thanks to extensive contacts with foreign and domestic firms and enterprises, with the help of highly qualified specialists and their modern scientific and educational laboratories, the educational process is being improved more and more.
