It would seem that mashed potatoes with stew are an outdated student dish that can be neglected. Nevertheless, many people express his approval. And not only for nostalgic reasons, but also because it seems tasty to them. If you put aside stereotypes, mashed potatoes with stew really taste quite good. Especially if you approach the issue of cooking with imagination, and take stew quality. If we take into account that such a dinner is being prepared in a matter of minutes, then it can even be considered ideal.

The most primitive version of student meals is prepared in an elementary way. Two potatoes are enough for two servings. They need to be cleaned and boiled in salted water until final readiness. First you need to drain the water, but a certain amount of the broth should be decanted into a cup - you donโ€™t know what kind of stew is hidden in a jar. After uncorking the lid, we look: if there are jelly-like inclusions in the meat, the broth can be poured into the sink. If the meat is dry, part of the potato water is poured back into the potatoes, where canned beef is laid. Pound mashed potatoes with stew in a classic recipe put together. To increase interest in the dish, you can add spices. For example, a ready-made set for meat or barbecue.

Some cooks suggest going the other way. Mashed potatoes are prepared separately, โ€œin a rich wayโ€, with milk and butter. The stew is warmed up in a pan, you can add chopped onion fried in vegetable oil to it. Then the two mixtures are combined, the mashed potatoes with the stew are thoroughly mixed - and you can start dinner. It turns out especially tasty if you sprinkle a portion with herbs. And supplement it with fresh or salted vegetables.

You can go further and create a real masterpiece from potatoes and despised by snobs stews. To do this, take a dozen peeled potatoes and boil them with a couple of leaves of laurel, a whole onion, two garlic cloves, a few peas of pepper, basil and dill (put herbs at our discretion). Do not forget to salt for ten minutes before removing from the fire.

Stew with stirring for another ten minutes, remove and sprinkle with chopped herbs.

Knead the potato, eliminated from the auxiliary ingredients, in mashed potatoes with a small amount of broth and butter. We combine mashed potatoes with stew, warmed up with other pleasant additives, already in plates, sprinkling with grated cheese and again greens.

More interesting is the dish cooked in the oven. And although you have to bother with it more, it is worth the effort.

Shred a large onion smaller and fry until golden. Then add three tablespoons of breadcrumbs to the frying, mix until relatively uniform and spread on top, evenly distributing, half a can of stew, preferably beef. It must be held in a frying pan, but only to a light degree of frying.

Grams of 150 potatoes are boiled until half cooked, rub, hammer in two eggs (after light cooling, so as not to curl) and mix.

We grease the baking dish well, spread half the mashed potatoes and rub on top a little butter. On top we distribute the stew with onions and cover it with the remaining potatoes. The "lid" also needs to be sprinkled with shavings of oil, and only then with grated hard cheese. We will bake this mashed potatoes with stew for about a quarter of an hour, maybe a little longer. Readiness is determined by the ruddy cheese crust. In the finished form, we decorate the dish with herbs - you can chopped parsley and dill, you can twigs, as you like.
