Bleeding gums are an unpleasant phenomenon, and sometimes it is one of the symptoms of a disease, and not only the oral cavity. As a rule, three main causes of bleeding are distinguished: mechanical damage, exposure to chemical irritants and inflammatory processes. In the first case, there is no reason for concern if the injury is minor, such as cuts with dental floss or hard pieces of food. However, one must pay close attention to oral hygiene, otherwise there is a risk of infection of the wound and the onset of the inflammatory process.
What are chemical irritants?
Almost all tobacco followers periodically face a problem such as bleeding gums. This is caused not only by the irritating effect of tobacco smoke, but also by the harmful effects of smoking on the vascular system. The opinion that using tobacco instead of chewing gums is not so dangerous is a mistake. Therefore, the rejection of bad habits will improve the condition of the gum tissue and the whole organism.
Those people who work in hazardous industries have to come into contact with chemical irritants such as asbestos, salts of heavy metals, etc. When the gums bleed very hard, this indicates the presence of an inflammatory process that does not go away by itself.
Inflammatory diseases
Such diseases include gingivitis, periodontitis and periodontal disease. The reasons for their development most often become neglect of hygiene procedures in the oral cavity. The remnants of food very quickly turn into plaque, in which millions of bacteria live. Later, it hardens, forming tartar, gum tissue descends, exposing the root sections of the teeth. At first, the process is asymptomatic, and the person learns about the disease by seeing bleeding gums. Therefore, very often we turn to the dentist already in the stage of a chronic disease.
The treatment of inflammatory processes in the mouth must be started immediately, otherwise you may even lose your teeth over time. In such situations, it is undesirable to self-medicate, since any rinses and lotions can be powerless simply because, for starters, the doctor must remove the tartar mechanically. After this, complex treatment will be prescribed: the use of anti-inflammatory gels, rinsing, etc.
There are diseases of an infectious nature when the
gums bleed. Gum with stomatitis in the affected area may bleed when ulcers appear. As a rule, young children are most often affected by stomatitis due to violations of sanitation and hygiene. However, adults are also often affected by this disease. The causes of stomatitis can be severe illnesses, taking antibiotics, weakening of the body's protective functions, trauma to the oral cavity and infection from a sick person. Bleeding gums are not very typical for stomatitis caused by allergic reactions or candida, however, in advanced cases, such symptoms were also encountered. The disease begins in the form of small spots of white in any part of the mouth. If you notice such manifestations, immediately consult a doctor.
