Varnish AK-113: description, specifications, application

Varnish AK-113 is used for protective purposes for surfaces that are subject to heat treatment, as well as exposure to moisture (especially if the humidity is high).

This varnish saves various metals. Alloys from them are also treated with this substance. In addition, the tool is also suitable for non-metallic surfaces. After application and drying, a transparent and smooth film forms.

Product Description

Acrylic varnish AK-113 & mdash; this substance is based on melamine-folmaldehyde and polyacrylic type resins, as well as plasticizer and organic solvents.

AK-113

The varnish is transparent, slightly opalescent. It dries quickly - the speed depends on the air temperature. For example, if the room is approximately 20 0 C, then it is enough to wait only a few hours (the third degree is taken into account).

The result is a transparent smooth surface of a homogeneous type. There are no hollows, bumps on it. Precipitation is also absent and small crumbs on the surface after drying will not remain. You can apply such a solution on a base that is not coated with a primer.

Sold AK-113 varnish in industrial containers of large sizes:

  • drums - about 25 kg each, although there are also options with a large volume;
  • barrels - 37 and 57 kg each;
  • flasks - the minimum volume is 15 kg.

The cost of varnish in Ukraine is approximately 93 hryvnias per 1 kg, and in Russia - from 240 rubles.

Product properties

The main application of varnish AK-113 & mdash; metal surface treatment. The substance has good moisture resistance: in particular, it has excellent resistance to standing water.

Acrylic varnish

High anticorrosive ability is characteristic. In addition, the compound has good resistance to various solvents.

The varnish dries quickly enough. It can be applied in 2-3 layers, but in this case, the strength and reliability of the coating will decrease.

The product is convenient to use, since it can be applied even if the viscosity is initial. Under normal conditions, it dries quickly. If necessary, R-5A is used as a solvent. The tool has a long period of use.

The adhesion of AK-113 varnish with the product is very high. A glossy coating of elastic type is formed. It is quite hard and when doused with gasoline does not become softer. It has good weather resistance. In addition, it is resistant to industrial and mineral oils.

Application

According to its characteristics, AK-113 varnish is suitable for processing products from non-ferrous and ferrous metals, as well as from alloys based on them (including aluminum).

Another substance is used for a different kind of surfaces. For example, for non-metallic.

Products that are coated with AK-113 varnish are excellent for outdoor use in various climatic conditions. The substance protects the surface perfectly. Suitable for products that will not heat up more than 150 0 C.

Types of varnish and their differences

Varnishes AK-113 and AK-113F are distinguished. They are used in the same cases. Both products are single-packaged. They look the same: a homogeneous substance that creates a transparent and smooth surface.

But AK-113 is based on polyacrylic type resins. But the second variety also includes melamine-formaldehyde resins. In connection with such differences, there are some features of such tools. Technical characteristics of varnish AK-113 and its modifications AK-113 F are slightly different.

Firstly, the drying time is different. The first takes about 2 hours to reach the third degree, and for the second - about 4 hours.

Acrylic lacquer

Secondly, the specific gravity of non-volatile compounds is different. For example, if we compare by weight, then for AK-113 this indicator is from 6 to 9%, and for its modification - from 9 to 13%. If we consider this indicator by volume, then the first is about 6-10%, and the second - about 8-12%.

Thirdly, in two varnishes, the costs of the solution per 1 layer are compared, but this can only be considered theoretically, since in practice the indicators can differ (this depends on many factors). As for the AK-113 varnish, it will take about 115 to 140 g per square meter. m. For AK-113 F, a little less is required - from 90 to 110 g per area with the same area.

GOST 23832-79 on AK-113 varnish and its modifications contains all the necessary information. It contains:

  • technical requirements;
  • safety conditions;
  • test methods;
  • acceptance rules;
  • manufacturers warranties;
  • information about the labeling, packaging, transportation and storage of this substance, as well as other details considered in detail.

GOST on AK-113 varnish indicates all the requirements for the production of this product.

Surface preparation

Surface preparation for varnishing AK-113 should be carried out in accordance with GOST 9.402. In this case, the level of degreasing should be the first. It is also necessary to verify that the degree of purification from oxides is second. If you use MS ISO 8501-1, then you must act to the degree of Sa 2 ½ or St 3.

Acrylic Polish Dnipro Him

Before using the solution, it is necessary to clean the metal or non-metallic surface: it is necessary to remove all dirt, dust, dirt and so on. After it you need to not only carefully remove dust, but also degrease. To do this, experts advise using a rag that is dipped in white spirit, and then wipe it with an additional dry cloth.

Application of varnish to the surface

It is very convenient, easy and simple to apply AK-113 varnish to the selected surface. Experts advise using a brush or a special pneumatic type spray gun for this.

Before using the varnish for its intended purpose, it is necessary to mix it and wait 2 hours. The temperature should be approximately 20 0 C.

The varnish is supposed to be applied with the selected tool at an ambient temperature of the order of 10 to 30 0 C. Moreover, the air humidity should be no more than 90%.

In order to prevent condensation, it is necessary to maintain the temperature of the surface to be treated more than the dew point of not less than 3 0 C.

Parquet lacquer

To obtain the required level of viscosity of the varnish, a special solvent is used. Use P-5 A. Solvents are also used to rinse instruments after using this varnish. For example, R-5, 646 is suitable.

If the varnish is used as an independent coating, then 1-2 layers are made. If the product processed by him will be used in areas with cold climatic conditions, then experts advise making 2-3 coatings.

For the tropics, you need to apply varnish about 3 or 4 times. Each subsequent layer is supposed to be applied only after the previous dry out. Have to wait about a couple of hours at a temperature of 20 0 C.

Precautionary measures

Varnish AK-113 refers to flammable substances. Because of this, it is strictly forbidden to use it in places that are located near open sources of fire.

All work is supposed to be carried out only in rooms where ventilation works well. Be sure to protect your hands with gloves made of quality rubber. In addition, individual protective equipment is required (it is advisable to use either a mask or a respirator with glasses).

Do not allow the penetration of particles of the solution into the organs of the respiratory and digestive systems, on the mucous layers. If the product gets on the skin, then immediately wash the place with warm running water using soap.

Varnish "Polymerdecor"

Store varnish is required indoors in a hermetically sealed container. Direct rays of the sun, water should not fall on it. The optimal ambient temperature is from about -30 to 30 0 C.

Up to 10 months may pass from the moment of production. After this, the varnish is no longer suitable for use. After completion of work using such a solution, it is required to dispose of the residues together with the container, observing environmental standards.

Reviews

Users who purchased AK-113 varnish respond positively about it, occasionally noting such shortcomings as insufficient strength of the product when applying multiple layers. It is noted that if all the rules are not taken into account during work, scratches are obtained on the surface even from holding with a fingernail.

Acrylic varnish AK-113, mainly suits users because of its ability to lie flat and smooth on the surface, as well as quickly dry.
