Each person has his own perception of color and aesthetic preferences. But, regardless of this, the principles of a harmonious combination of shades in design have been developed, which are successfully applied in practice by architects, artists, designers. The attractiveness of the room, comfort and the overall interior of the room depend on how to combine the colors. Unfortunately, not every person has an innate sense of taste and measure, as a result of which the so-called "color wheel" was created.
When creating a design, one shade is taken as the basis, which is combined with other options.
The number of palettes depends on the desired result. However, we do not recommend filling one room with 4-5 shades, since this is too much.
In order to understand how to combine colors, we will analyze the main aspects in this area:
- Plain or monochrome combination. In this case, shades of the same color, but of varying degrees of saturation, are used. To some, such a decision may seem boring, but the result often exceeds expectations.
- Contrast combination. It is extremely important to understand how to correctly combine colors in the interior. We take two shades as a basis, which we select to the main one according to the aforementioned circle from its opposite side. A not-so-sharp and experimental solution is the Triad. In this case, three shades are applied, equidistant from each other. To understand how to combine colors to create the interior of the "triad", we use an equilateral triangle. One of the peaks indicates the tone of the main palette, and the other two indicate additional shades.
- A combination of colors that cause a feeling of comfort. This is one of the best residential solutions. It is necessary to combine related, neighboring colors, which are located next to the main shade on the circle.
As we can see, everything is extremely simple if you use improvised tools in the form of the aforementioned circles. Of course, there are a lot of shades, and a problem may arise related to how to combine the colors that are provided in the assortment of the construction and furniture store. But you can foresee an approximate result.
In order for the design to turn out harmonious and not variegated, it is better to limit yourself to a 2 or 3 color combination. Please note that:
- gray color is combined with blue, black, white, light green, blue and pink;
- beige - with bright red, brown, peach, purple, grassy;
- brown - with white, gold, beige, milky, dark blue, green;
- red color is combined with white, pink, black, golden hue;
- blue - with gray, green, purple, blue and white.
This is only a short list, it can be continued for a very long time. If we talk about contrasting solutions, then the blue tone can be combined with yellow, red - with blue, pink - with light green and so on.
Now you know how to combine colors in the interior, but remember that, regardless of the established rules, the decision is always yours. Do not be afraid to experiment, but at first it is advisable to transfer your ideas to paper or a computer monitor. A vivid example is always better than a fuzzy fantasy.
