The Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Bryansk was built in the period from 1739 to 1741. It was erected on the territory of the Resurrection Monastery, which is supposed to have existed since the 15th century, but was abolished in 1766. Church history

The Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Bryansk has a rather interesting story that began in the early years of the 18th century. In 1706, a stone church was built here, however, by decree of Emperor Peter I, it was demolished. This was due to the fact that there was a threat of an attack on the city of the Swedish troops of King Charles XII. The temple was dismantled, and the materials used in its construction went to strengthen the defensive structures. The monastery buildings were converted into barracks and military service facilities of the fortress.

Temple at the beginning of the 20th century

In 1713, a new wooden church was erected, several monastic cells and a temple fence were also built. In 1739, it was decided to rebuild the church and create it from stone. The construction of a new stone church of the Resurrection of Christ (Bryansk) was completed in 1941. The main throne was arranged in the church. It was consecrated in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, and the chapel of the Holy Martyrs Aviv, Samon and Guria was also created.

Temple in the 18-20 centuries

At the beginning of 1766 the monastery of the Resurrection of Christ was abolished. After that, the church becomes a parish. Three years after the closure of the monastery, a bell tower was built on the western side of the refectory, which was rebuilt in 1843. In 2006, there was a cancer in the church with a particle of the relics of St. Prince Oleg Bryansky, but in mid-2012 they were transferred to the new Trinity Cathedral.
