Not everyone knows how to draw a diamond. Meanwhile, a similar problem may arise. The workshop presented here will show you how to draw a diamond with a pencil in stages. Also, an approximate variant of coloring a symbolic diamond is given here.
Diamond or diamond?
Sometimes people want to portray a diamond. True, they say most often that they want to learn how to draw a diamond. But this is not a completely correct expression. After all, a diamond is a stone that does not yet have a facet; therefore, it can have any shape. Here, a variant of the image of a faceted diamond, that is, a diamond, will be considered.
Naturally, each drawing is done with a sketch, which is then painted. And therefore, the artist does not have anything left to do but how to draw a diamond with a pencil - to sketch the depicted object.
Brilliant pure water the color of the morning dawn?
Some believe that this gem should be transparent. Some motivate this statement by the fact that there is even an expression - “a diamond of pure water”. However, this definition does not indicate the color of the stone, but its quality. It is a diamond that does not have flaws that is called this beautiful phrase.
But, in addition to traditional colorless diamonds or having all shades of yellow, there are fantasy ones. They can be pink, green, blue, blue. Therefore, before you draw a diamond, you should decide what color the diamond will be depicted.
But the winged expression itself arose precisely because a colorless diamond, carefully cut and without flaws, when it is lowered into water, it becomes almost invisible.
How to draw a diamond in stages
- First, you should build a straight line or close to a straight angle with rays rising up.
- Then you need to put symmetrical points on the rays, and from them construct obtuse angles, the rays of which are directed towards each other.
- A line segment should connect symmetrical points on the rays of obtuse angles. This line will be parallel to the base of the triangle with a right angle from which the artist began the construction.
- Draw a line connecting the vertices of obtuse angles.
- Divide the right angle by rays into three equal angles.
- Connect the intersection points of the rays of these angles with the middle of the upper straight line parallel to the base of the right triangle.
- In extreme acute-angled triangles, geometric shapes are required . For this, their foundations are divided into three equal parts. An angle is constructed from the first point, the rays of which fall on the sides of the triangle at asymmetric points. Moreover, the outer intersection should be slightly lower than the inner one. Then connect the line obtained and the second point. Thus, a triangle with a median is obtained.
- A symmetrical construction should also be done.
- On the upper part of the diamond, faces are drawn that form various geometric shapes. It is very important to observe symmetry when drawing.
- A rhombus fits into the middle triangle of the lower part of the diamond.
Image of a diamond from other angles
Since you can gradually draw a diamond not only in the plane, but also in the projection, that is, at an angle, the algorithm for performing this drawing will be similar to that described. But only the process is complicated by the fact that the top line is not a straight line segment, but a broken line with two obtuse angles.
Perhaps someone needs an image of a diamond from above, when only its upper part is visible. The diamond in this case has the shape of a circle or oval, sometimes a polyhedron.
Drawing color on drawing
As mentioned above, colorless diamonds are most often found. To give the picture expressiveness, you need to apply shadows with a simple pencil and make multi-colored highlights on the edges.
If the artist does not aim to achieve a real absolute coincidence of the image with the object, but wants to draw a symbolic diamond, then you can use the shades of blue. To do this, in one tone you need to paint over shapes that are not adjacent to each other.
How many faces does a diamond have?
Many artists will be puzzled by this question. Meanwhile, it is impossible to answer it in monosyllables. After all, there are many ways to cut this gem. Initially, a diamond had only one polished face. And only in 1465, thanks to the jeweler of the court of Duke Ludwig van Berkem, did a new cut called "rose" appear. Gradually, the process was improved so that the stone could reflect light with its inner surface. And only in the year 61 of the last century, Arpad Neji developed an original innovation: a profile cut appeared, which was called the "princess".
Today, there are a lot of options for processing diamonds. The most common is a diamond with 57 facets. But the “majestic” cut has 102 facets, that is, 61 facets in the upper part of the diamond and 41 in the lower profile.
