Ehud Barak is an Israeli military and political figure born in Palestine. At present, he is the leader of the highly successful liberal Atzmaut party.
Unfortunately, Ehud’s career does not allow to fully declassify the biography of this person, therefore, there is little information about him in open sources.
Family and youth
So, the future military was born in Palestine on February 12, 1942. Together with his parents - repatriates from Lithuania and Poland - Esther and Israel Brog, he lived in the kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon (per. Sharon's Guard).
Even then, the boy had a peculiar sense of humor. The most vivid memory is connected with this moment, about which Ehud Barak himself spoke in an interview. Then the British scoured homes in search of clandestine weapons depots, including explosives. During the search, the boy led the soldier to a pomegranate tree. Apparently, his joke was mistaken for children's spontaneity, so they released him unscathed.
But further, Ehud continued to bring only problems to his parents. Brog (real name) was a squabble and stubborn child. The knowledge that the school offered was not interesting to him, so the boy was constantly accused of laziness and sloppiness. This led to the fact that by the end of grade 11 teachers literally did not want to see him, although they did not begin to either expel or leave him for the second year. He was simply forbidden to attend school.
As a result, Ehud Barak, whose biography is considered in this article, passed exams externally and much later than the rest. However, the accusations of the teachers turned out to be groundless - much later, already as an officer, the young man brilliantly graduated from two schools at the universities of Jerusalem and the United States.
Anti-Terrorism Unit
In 1961, the young man joined the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). There, Brog’s stubbornness played a decisive role: at the cost of tremendous efforts the young man was able to break into the anti-terrorist unit “Sayeret Matkal”. The fighters of this group risked their lives daily, but this is what attracted the future general.
Ehud Barak quickly became the favorite of the unit commander. It got to the point that all planned operations were thought out taking into account the personal characteristics of the young man. A great joy to Ehud was the realization that his efforts were not in vain. Each exhausting training, constant exercises, successfully completed tactical tasks brought him closer to the level of experienced comrades, because initially he was just a “green” youth.
The development of basic skills took place in Arab villages. Night attacks on such a dangerous territory, where any slightly different person aroused suspicion, helped the special forces to improve camouflage skills.
Further career
At the moment, Ehud Barak is the only soldier who has passed both a school of intelligence and infantry courses. The young man did not plan to quit serving in the special forces, and after the expiration of the main term he signed a new contract. He could not imagine his life without military affairs, all the more so since he now headed the post of deputy commander of the special operations unit. It was in this position that the young man showed himself "in all its glory."
Even during the “six-day war” , Barak’s group managed to prove itself and capture the enemy’s base, despite the fact that they were everywhere ahead of the Air Force and tank detachments. Ehud Barak burst into every hot spot in Israel, resulting in a considerable increase: at 37, the man became the youngest IDF general.
Further, Barak’s career developed at lightning speed: in 1982, Ehud headed the AMAN, and in 1991 he already took over as chief of staff of the Israeli Defense Forces. In this position, Barack stayed until the 95th year.
Policy
After the resignation, the man went into politics, especially since he was a welcome trophy in many parties in Israel. Over the year, Ehud rose from the post of Minister of the Interior to the leader of the Avoda organization. In the elections of the 99th year, he defeated the former prime minister of the country and took his place. Barak did a lot for Israel, including trying to resolve the Middle East conflict, but failed. He also lost his post after losing to the election of Ariel Sharon.
For six years, the man was retired, abandoning political and military activities. But on June 12, 2007, he again took up the post of leader of Avoda, but due to the decreasing number of mandates issued by the Knesset, he soon left the organization. At present, Ehud Barak, whose photo is presented above, is the leader of the Atzmaut party.
Personal life
Ehud is married twice. He met his first wife in 1968 and lived with her for 34 years. From this marriage, a man has three daughters: Michael, Yael, Anat. In 2003, the couple could not stand the increasing tension in the relationship and divorced, although Naawa sacrificed a lot for her husband.
in 2007, Ehud married again. This time, his wife became Neely Priel. Their marriage is still quite strong, and the ex-general himself claims that he was in love with a woman in his youth.
