Vehicle insurance: types and their differences

Vehicle insurance can be divided into several groups. This is due to the fact that the legal basis for the insurance interest can be both the right to own or use a vehicle, or the occurrence of any obligations to persons whose property interests, life or health were harmed.

The main directions of motor insurance can be considered as follows:

• vehicle insurance;

• responsibility of owners;

• from an accident for both owners and passengers.

The most common options are insurance:

- vehicles protecting the interests of their owners related to the car itself;

- civil liability, defending the rights of the user before the claims of the injured party.

Until July 1, 2003, vehicle insurance in Russia was voluntary. Today, any car owner is required to insure their civil liability. The relevant law has been adopted so that the damage to victims, their life, health or injured property is guaranteed to be compensated. Now all owners of the vehicle must pay the insurance premium and have a policy; without this document, a car in the Russian Federation cannot be used. The cost of the policy depends on the length of service and accuracy of the driver, so the motorist is financially interested in road safety.

Car insurance may occur under the following conditions, which include various types of risks.

1. "Auto Casco". Accidents, fires, natural disasters, thefts, theft of parts, glass breaks, falling objects fall into the attention zone of this type of insurance. Interest can also be extended to additional equipment that is installed on the vehicle and is an integral part of it. Tariffs for Avtokasko for works of the domestic automobile industry in most companies now vary from 5 to 13 percent of the estimated value of the car or of a certain insured amount. If voluntary car insurance is issued for a foreign car, then payment can increase up to 18 percent of the price of a new car.

2. "Avtokombi". It includes the widest list of risks that can only be associated with the operation of the vehicle. The policyholder shall be indemnified for losses that were caused by the loss or damage to the car, causing any kind of harm to the health and life of the victims or their property while using the car. Also in the scope of the insurance interests of "auto-combi" includes damage caused to passengers and the driver, damage to luggage or other things that are in the cabin. There is, however, a reservation that baggage insurance does not apply to unique or antique items, jewelry from precious metals, semiprecious and precious stones, objects of worship, collections, manuscripts, paintings, securities and money, documents and photos. Things that are not the property of the insured's family or are intended for sale do not apply to personal baggage.

3. Liability insurance. This type of insurance is made in accordance with the new law of the Russian Federation on compulsory liability insurance for vehicle owners. For citizens of the Russian Federation, this type of insurance is mandatory, as well as for foreign citizens residing in Russia. The subject of liability is damage caused by the driver to property, as well as to the health and life of people as a result of an accident.

4. Insurance against a variety of accidents, the second name is seat insurance. Its object is the life and health of the driver and passengers. The contract is concluded either according to the system of seats (the amount of insurance is determined for each place in the vehicle) or by the lump-sum system (for the whole car). The security is paid in the event that the accident results in death, disability or disability for more than 4 months.
