Modern cars have a complex device. This applies not only to engines, but also to boxes. Previously, automakers practiced only two transmissions - a mechanic and an automatic machine. Today, new checkpoints have appeared. One of these is the robotic DSG box. It is installed on the cars of the concern Volkswagen - Audi and has a special device (with two clutches and a two-mass flywheel).
You need to understand that the oil change in the DSG has some differences from the classic boxes. What technology is this operation used for? What oil to pour in a DSG box? Changing the oil in the DSG box and much more - later in the article.
Regulations
You must always follow the rules. Oil (whether it is motor or transmission) is always a consumable and sooner or later becomes worthless. Over time, the fluid loses its color and lubricating properties.
This negatively affects the resource box. Therefore, in order to keep the car in good condition, the oil should be replaced in time in the DSG mechatronics. Experts recommend doing this procedure every sixty thousand kilometers. But if the car is used in extreme conditions (frequent traffic jams or severe frosts), this period should be reduced to forty thousand kilometers.
What to pour and how much?
Many people want to know which oil in the DSG you need to fill. The dealer recommends using the original VAG product G052182A2. However, its cost is more than a thousand rubles per liter. Therefore, many prefer analogues.
So, Pentosin FFl-2 oil proved to be quite good. This is a German-made transmission fluid that costs 300 rubles less than the original Vagovskaya. However, when changing the oil in the DSG, do not interfere with these two fluids. If the original oil was previously used in the box, then it is better to use it in the future.
Now itโs worth talking about volume. How much oil should the DSG box have? The filling volume is seven liters. But if it is a DSG 7 with dry clutch, the volume is less - 1.9 liters.
note
In addition to the new oil, you must also purchase:
- Original oil filter.
- O-ring drain plug.
Only then can the oil be replaced in the DSG.
Get to work
So, first you need to drive the car into the inspection hole. Then it is necessary to switch off the engine, after setting the gearbox selector to the โparkingโ mode. Then unscrew the drain plug of the box pallet. For this you need an 8mm hexagon. Prepare an empty container for old oil about five liters in advance. It is advisable that it be clean (you need to determine if there is chips in the old fluid). After draining the old oil, tighten the plug and inspect the condition of the fluid. In the case of detection of metal particles can be noted increased wear of the elements of the box. Such a gearbox may be unstable.
After that you need to get to the oil filter. He is above. To get it, you have to dismantle the battery and the platform under it.
If access is difficult, you can also remove the air filter housing with nozzles. Then unscrew the lid two turns and allow the remaining oil to drain into the crankcase. Then completely unscrew the cover and replace the filter element.
What then?
After that it is necessary to fill in a new liquid. Some add it directly to the housing of the new filter, but it is long and difficult (a liter is poured over ten minutes). Therefore, it is better to find an adapter that is screwed in instead of the oil drain plug. A 10 mm hose is also required (it is important that it is transparent). The length of the hose is about two meters. Its second end is pulled over the neck of a narrow funnel, which is mounted above the engine compartment.
Further, the transmission fluid is poured into the funnel. Although the refueling volume is about seven liters, in practice it turns out to fill no more than five.
Then start the engine. Warm up the box. To do this, switch the gearbox selector to different modes. The oil should warm to a temperature of 45 degrees. If liquid was added at room temperature, the box should warm up in three to five minutes.
At the next stage, the collar is unscrewed and a bottle with oil is installed instead of it (usually liquid is sold in liters, so take it). Place this bottle on the floor so that it is below the transmission level. In this case, excess liquid will flow through the transparent tube. As soon as the stream is reduced to drops, the adapter is unscrewed and the oil drain plug is twisted. Previously, the seal changes on it.
Please note that screwing the plug after changing the oil in the DSG is only by hand. After that, on the started engine, you again need to switch modes with a delay of five seconds. Next, return the lever to the "parking" mode (the engine does not turn off at the same time). Unscrew the plug again. If the oil drains, you need to wait until the excess is gone. Then you can tighten the cork and begin full operation.
Nuances
The most difficult part in this procedure is to determine the exact temperature of the transmission oil. Specialists have a special device for this, which is connected via a diagnostic connector. But when replacing with their own hands, they can cope without it. The main thing is to remember that the optimum temperature for checking the oil level is from 35 to 45 degrees Celsius.
It is worth remembering that for the robotic transmission, both excess and lack of oil are harmful. The level should be average.
How to change the oil to โdryโ DSG 7?
Sequence of work on a seven-speed gearbox:
- The protection is being removed, which covers the gearbox.
- The drain plug is unscrewed.
- Old oil is drained.
- The remaining oil is pumped out using a syringe or by jacking the machine in the area of โโthe left front wheel.
- The drain plug is twisted.
- The protection is put in place.
Liquid is poured through a plastic breather (it is black in color and is located on the plastic cover of the DSG blocking mechanism). You can completely remove the cover, but for this you will also have to dismantle the battery or air filter housing. Then 1.9 liters of new liquid are poured. After this, the replacement procedure can be considered completed.
Tip
If this operation is performed in winter, the transmission should be preheated. Better to do a little trip. So you make the oil less viscous, and it quickly drains from the gears and shafts that are located inside the transmission. In the summer, you can do without preliminary heating. The liquid already at +20 degrees Celsius has a normal viscosity.
Conclusion
So, now you know how to change the oil on a robotic box. As you can see, this operation can be done with your own hands.
