Story
History cannot be forgotten. This is well understood by those who raised Nesvizh College from the military ruins, and those who won its subsequent glory. The entire history of the college can be divided into four significant periods:
- Nesvizh teacher's seminary since 1875.
- Nesvizh Pedagogical College named after Yakub Kolas from 1944 to 1956.
- Nesvizh Pedagogical College since 1984.
- Nesvizh State College named after Yakub Kolas since 2008.
This chronicle tells about teachers and students with great inspiration, because these people comprehended their need and extraordinary benefits to form a complete picture of the world. Talented toilers, clever women, subtly feeling great responsibility for the task entrusted. Although not all names are named today, it is precisely through their efforts that Nesvizh College still stands on the Belarusian land, adding notes of extraordinary beauty to a charming city.
Seminary
The history of the foundation of teacher seminaries determines the level of education in the states. Seminaries have been opened since the eighteenth century on this territory, among them were both spiritual and secular. The first teacher’s office appeared in Vilna in 1775, then until 1915 they were established in Nesvizh, Molodechno, Rogachev, Polotsk, Svisloch, Orsha, Borisov. Belarusian land has always sought to improve educational levels.
It was in Nesvizh that teachers were trained for elementary schools. Nesvizh College continues this tradition now. Only instead of the Law of God, Church Slavonic language, land surveying and crafts more modern objects appeared. But the Russian language, mathematics, history and many other subjects remained. After the onset of 1917, people of the non-Orthodox faith and women began to be accepted into the seminary.
Teacher training college
The Great Patriotic War died out, leaving the territory of Belarus in ruins. Nesvizh State College also lost its building, and it was already impossible to restore it. However, pedagogical educational traditions turned out to be strong, and in September 1944 the school resumed its work. There are only three teachers left. There are seventeen students.
Organized recruitment gave another 227 people. There was not only a building. No notebooks, no textbooks, no clothes for the winter. Bread is not far away - half a kilogram per day per person in the complete absence of other products. But the thirst for knowledge was stronger than difficulties. By 1945, the school already had seventeen groups. An accelerated graduation took place at the same time - forty-four people went to rural schools to train children who survived the war.
Post-war time
In 1946, the pedagogical school was transferred to a four-year training program. Here, life was already in full swing at that time: lectures, evenings, reports, meetings with participants in the war and pedagogical workers of the highest rank. Aesthetic education was paramount on a par with patriotic. The best Belarusian writers, poets, musicians were guests of students of the teacher training college. The choir, orchestra, and literary studio worked constantly.
Over twelve years, more than a thousand excellent teachers have been trained. However, in 1956 there was a merger of Nesvizh and Pinsk pedagogical schools. Nesvizh State College might not have appeared, since all students were transferred to the Pinsk Pedagogical School named after Pushkin. However, in 1984 this educational institution in Nesvizh revived.
