This is not only the implementation of an Internet connection, but also interactive television, telephony. In addition, this operator also produces its own equipment. Therefore, it is not surprising that many users are interested in how to configure Rostelecom equipment.
Routers "Rostelecom"
It is clear that the company itself does not have its own factories that would produce routers. In fact, everything is done simply: a batch of equipment is purchased from Chinese manufacturers - such as Huawei, D-Link, ZTE, etc. - and the company logo is pasted. Basic D-Link Router Settings
D-Link equipment is very loved by operators in the Russian market. No exception was Rostelecom. Configuring D-Link (routers) usually goes quite smoothly and does not require any specialized knowledge from the user.
After connecting the router, you will need to start any browser and type in the address bar: 192.168.0.1. The router settings window will open. Here, as a password and login, you will need to enter a bunch: admin and admin.
A beginner can take full advantage of the “Setup Wizard”, which in semi-automatic mode will provide all the necessary settings for Rostelecom and other operators.
Advanced D-Link Router Settings
The settings menu is called in exactly the same way as mentioned above, through any Internet browser. Next, you need to click on the Click'n'Connect tab and connect the cable from the provider.
After clicking on the “Next” button, you will need to indicate the type of connection used. If there is any doubt about which type to indicate, you need to clarify this information with the provider.
At the next stage, you should give a name to the connection and come up with your password and login to enter. If the password and login were issued by Rostelecom itself, then you do not need to invent anything, you should enter them.
It is possible that they will additionally be asked to enter VPN, DNS and other data, which are also issued at the conclusion of the Rostelecom contract. Connection of the test node will begin immediately after clicking on the “Apply” button.
Wi-fi setup. Rostelecom, D-Link
After the wired Internet is successfully connected, you can begin to configure Wi-Fi. Everything is quite simple here. You only need to come up with a name for the connection (text field SSID) and your own password (in the "Encryption key" field PSK) so that no one can "steal" the network from the side.

Setting up digital television on D-Link equipment
Rostelecom also provides services on digital television. Here, the method that is used to connect is also important - IPTV or VLAN.
In the first case, all that is needed is to specify the IPTV port. In the second, you need to tinker a bit. The situation is further aggravated by the fact that the D-Link settings interface is built in such a way that after the Internet connection as a whole is configured, the setting up of Rostelecom IPTV is no longer possible. Therefore, it should begin with the adjustment of television. If the TV package was not purchased, then this kind of setup can be safely skipped.
So, if Internet TV works through VLAN, then you will need to select the "Advanced" area in the main menu, then click on the VLAN link. You will be prompted to specify the specific port used by the set-top box. In most cases, this is Port-4. You need to click on the "Delete port" and then - on "Save changes."
There are two options:
IPTV comes in untagged form. In this case, you will need to select the WAN item, then in the "Port" section specify Port-4, and set the untagged value in the tag field. This results in such a result, as if the provider cable was connected directly to the set-top box, and not to the router.
- If IPTV is organized in a tagged form, then setting up IPTV Rostelecom will require switching to the items: "Advanced - VLAN - Add." In the name field, you can write anything you want, in the "Type" field set the value to "transparent", then select Port-4 and set the untagged mode of operation.
Setting up PPPoE Rostelecom
Being in the main settings menu, you need to select the “Network” section, and then follow the WAN link and click on the “Connect” button. The advanced PPPoE settings will open.
Accordingly, in the “Connection Type” field, you should set the PPPoE parameter, specify the fifth WAN port. Login and password are entered those that were issued by Rostelecom. Done, you can enter the Internet.

Configuring the Rostelecom DSL modem
In some branches of Rostelecom, DSL routers and modems are issued. You can consider the rules of connection and settings on the example of the D-LINK DSL-2640U model. For many other models, the procedure will be similar, there can only be some difference in the external interface of the settings window.
First you need to connect the device itself to the Internet with a cable provider. Then open any web browser and enter in the address bar: 192.168.1.1. Then in the dialog box enter in the login and password fields a bunch of admin and again admin.
The main settings window will open. Here you need to select the "Network" section and the "Connection" subsection, add a new connection and select PPPoE as the type. Filling in the values ​​of VPI and PCI, you need to clarify in advance which parameters should be specified for this region.
PP-username and password are filled in according to the data issued by Rostelecom.
Keep Alive must be enabled. The values ​​of the LCP interval and LCP failure can be set at your discretion. The last parameter indicates how many consecutive requests the modem will send to the provider for connection, and the first - what is the time for the second sending of the request in seconds.
You also need to check the IGMP and NAT options.
It remains only to save the changes and select "Save and reload". Configuring DSL Rostelecom completed successfully.
Zyxel Keenetic for Rostelecom
Once modems from Zyxel were very common in the post-Soviet space and even received the affectionate name "Zuchel" from users. Today, there are many more models, but no one is going to write off the "good old" Zyxel from the accounts.
Traditionally, you should start the configuration by opening the browser when the device is turned on, and typing in its address bar: http://192.168.1.1. You will be prompted for a username and password. Depending on the firmware version and the specific model of Zuchel, the following parameters can be used: admin / admin or admin / 1234.
Next, you will need to go to the "Internet" section and the "List" tab. Here, follow the link Broadband connection. You can choose any of the offered ones as a WAN port. You also need to make sure that the checkboxes are checked next to the "Enable interface" and "Use to access the Internet." But from the item "Get the address via DHCP" the checkbox will need to be unchecked.
In the IP settings, you should specify "Do not use IP address" and in the "MAC address" point, select "Default".
Next, you will need to click on the button "Add Connection" in the "Authorization" section. Here you will also need to make some settings:

Depending on the model of Zuchel itself and the firmware that is used in it, the setting may look a little different. For example, for Zyxel Keenetic DSL, this will happen through the NetFriend quick setup wizard.
First you need to reset all previous settings. To do this, when the modem is running, in the address bar of the browser, type: http://192.168.1.1/RU/nf.html or: http://my.keenetic.net/RU/nf.html.
Next, you will need to click on the "Quick Setup" button. As login and password, the corresponding values ​​issued by Rostelecom are entered.
In the next step, the "Wizard" will ask you to specify the VPI and VCI. They need to be clarified by Rostelecom regarding a specific region. The same applies to encapsulation parameters.
If Rostelecom has not provided an individual IP address, you will need to mark “Automatically” in the next step. Otherwise, enter the IP issued by Rostelecom. In addition, you will need to enter the gateway mask parameters, gateway IP address and DNS address. These data should also be issued by Rostelecom.
Then the “Test Connection” button is clicked.
Setting up Rostelecom connection for 3G and 4G modems
Probably the easiest things are with the settings if the Rostelecom modem is 3G or 4G. All that is required in this case is simply to insert the modem into the USB port of the computer and wait until the "Software Installation Wizard" is launched. As a rule, you don’t need to do anything special, only occasionally agree with all the conditions and click on the “Next” button.
All necessary settings and parameters are already embedded directly into the Rostelecom modem.
Connection via TV cable
Even easier if Rostelecom provides Internet access through a television cable. All that is required in this case is simply to plug it into the appropriate connector in the equipment. Such devices already have everything necessary for a successful connection.
Setting up Rostelecom connection in Windows
You can make all the necessary settings for connecting to the Internet through Rostelecom and standard Windows tools. For different versions of the operating system, this may look different, the differences will only affect the choice of buttons and links, the principle of operation will be preserved.
For example, with regard to Windows 7 and later, Rostelecom settings are automatically issued for each computer. This also applies to the IP address and other parameters. The user only needs to plug the Ethernet cable into the connector on the PC network card.
If for some reason it becomes necessary to inquire about the settings or enter them manually, you will need to select “Internet and network connection” on the “Control Panel”, right-click on the connection icon, select “Properties” from context menu that appears. Then, in the new window, you will need to mark “IP Version 4 Properties” and click on the “Properties” button.
