Profile for frame
Installing a drywall partition is a simple matter. Therefore, almost everyone can build it. But you should first consider the process technology and the recommendations of specialists.
For the GKL partition, you need to design a metal frame. It is being built using a partition profile. The stores offer a huge assortment of such structural elements.
Two types of profile are used for this. Rack (PS or CW) or guide (PN or UW). They differ in size and scope. During the construction of the frame, they will need a lot. So before you start, you need to calculate the number of structural elements.
Profile (PN) is available in 4 sizes. He is the guide. It shows the numbers after marking the PN, which indicate the width of the element. They have sizes 50, 65, 75 and 100 (these numbers are presented in millimeters). This is the width of the cross section of the profile. The height of the rectangle to be produced on the slice is 40 mm. The length of the PN profile, as a rule, is 3 meters.
The maximum length of the rack profile reaches 4 meters as a standard. You can’t build it up. If, if necessary, a larger size is needed, then a special order is issued at the manufacturing plant.
If we are talking about an interior partition, then you do not need to take a profile of 50 or 65 mm wide. He is weak for these purposes. It is recommended to use the PS-100 and PN-100 profile. Then the thickness of the partition will be 12.5 cm. This should be taken into account when creating the floor plan. If it is not possible to make a partition with such a profile, then it is minimally allowed to select structural elements 75 mm wide. Then the wall thickness will be 10 cm.
Preparatory work
Before zoning is created, the design of the room is done. This work is not difficult for the builder. But for a beginner, of course, it is recommended to be more careful during the calculations. The wizard draws a drawing of the room on a scale paper. Then he selects a suitable place for the erection of the wall. You should also pay attention to whether there will be an installation of an interior door in a drywall partition. If cabinets will be hung on the wall, or any elements using fasteners, special jumpers are installed in the right places.
Creating a drawing is necessary in any case. This will help to correctly consider the stages of work, several options for zoning and the exact determination of the desired material and its quantity.
Installation of a door in a plasterboard partition is painstaking work. Therefore, follow this moment well to calculate and acquire the necessary material in accordance with the calculations. It is necessary to use the PN-100 and PS-100 profile. The list should also include sealing tape and chopping cord. Drywall sheets should be 12.5 mm thick. During the work should use the level. For such purposes, it should be two meters.
A sickle is also purchased, which is used to seal joints when interacting with special putty. But you can purchase the KNAUF Uniflot construction mix. It seams up without a sickle. But its price is much higher.
During the work, you should also have at hand a hammer, tape measure, puncher, screwdriver, scissors for metal and a knife for drywall. Self-tapping screws for metal, acrylic primer and soundproofing material are bought. You should buy spatulas (wide, narrow and for finishing corners).
Markup
When installing a drywall partition, you must first mark up the room, which before that was put on a notebook or simply on a sheet of paper. Mostly partitions are made with a door. The desired distance is measured from the starting wall using a tape measure. Marks are drawn along the side walls and two vertical lines are drawn. Then they are connected along the floor and ceiling.
For this, the master uses a chop cord. It is set between two marks, a little delayed and released. The result is a flat line. Then 10 or 12.5 cm departs from it. It depends on the project.
Mark the doorway. A strong profile should be purchased for him. This construction is being constructed simply. Another rack is inserted into one rack beam. They are fastened with metal screws.
Please note that the installation of the door frame in the drywall partition is made by a reinforced profile. Used PS-100, which is able to withstand the weight of the canvas in 40 kg. Therefore, it is required to perform a frame of reinforced elements. Typically, the width of the door leaf is 80 cm. In this case, the opening is made wider by 8 cm. After applying and re-checking the markings, you can install the profile.

Is a drywall installation a redevelopment and is it legal? Residents of many apartments ask themselves this question. The Housing Code of the Russian Federation (in Article 25, part 4) shares the concept of "reorganization" and "redevelopment" of living space. The rack profile is cut so that it is one centimeter shorter than the height of the ceiling. This should be remembered when cutting in the process of preparing the material used. A stiffener is defined on the PS profile. With this edge, it will be mounted where the cladding is performed. It must be understood that the stiffener should be directed to where the beginning of the skinning of the GCR frame will be made.
Profile Installation
Then install the profiles. This is nothing complicated. First, marking is made for holes in which the profile is fixed with dowels. Then it is applied to the wall, the created markup is transferred. Then it is removed and a percussion drill or perforator makes holes in the marked areas to the desired depth.
Next, a sealing tape is glued to the profile. Usually it is self-adhesive. Her presence is obligatory. The profile is fixed at the edges. Then install dowels with an interval of 50-80 cm.
The choice of mounting also depends on the base material. If the building is concrete, then 7.5 cm dowels are needed, and if it is wooden, then 5 cm long self-tapping screws are needed. When installing the partition in a brick house, 10 cm dowels are used.
After installation of the guide profiles is completed, rack-mount frame elements are mounted. The first of them should be tightly fixed to the wall. He also goes into the guide profile and is fixed by self-tapping screws or notch. And in order to ensure good sound insulation of the structure, it is necessary to glue the profile with sealing tape. Also, all metal parts of the frame should be constantly checked at building levels to avoid their uneven mounting.
Next, the installation of racks continues. Compliance with step-by-step instructions allows you to do the task correctly. The profile is recommended to be placed in increments of 40-70 cm in order. It should also be borne in mind that the edges of the GCR should fall in the middle of the profile. This will give the frame the required strength. Each rack is attached by a notch to the guide structures.
Installing a door in a drywall partition
Next, the arrangement of the doorway is performed. The design involves the installation of jumpers. Rack profiles should initially be mounted taking into account the creation of a doorway. Since it is wide, the door leaf is fastened to it. Racks reinforce with a beam.
Next, you need to put a jumper. It does not matter whether the installation of the sliding door in the plasterboard partition will be carried out or the installation of the canvas is planned. It should match the height of the doorway. A piece of profile is cut off. It should be 20 cm longer than the opening. The side edges of it are cut off. Then the profile is bent. From the side it looks like ears. The design will resemble the outward letter “P”. And the sides should have a length of 10 cm. For these sections, it is attached to the rack profiles. The crossbar is fixed with screws inside the opening. Over time, when the lining will occur, drywall sheets are mounted there.
Then, a couple of rack profiles are installed over the crossbar. They are arranged in 40 cm increments and fastened with self-tapping screws. The distance between the rack profiles and the slats above the partition is also taken into account. When the structure is assembled, and the installation of the door into the drywall partition is partially completed, proceed to the facing with drywall.
Sliding doors
For building a sliding door in a drywall partition, this building material is well suited. Thanks to the GCR, you can make a suitable gap for the sliding door.
Before erecting a frame for the wall, make sure that after installing the sliding doors nothing will impede their movement. Safety is also important. Often, a wall outlet, a switch, a lamp or simply create wiring is installed in the erected wall. This is extremely undesirable if the installation of a sliding interior door in a plasterboard partition is completed. If this is necessary, you should very carefully calculate all the points. It is important that in no case the sliding door does not touch the electrical elements.
If there are carpets in the room, it must be ensured that the fibers from this material do not fall into the mechanism of the lower guide elements of the doors, as this may disable the mechanism in the future. Here are the rules you should rely on when installing a sliding door into a drywall partition. And then the design will last a long and high quality.
Cladding
Plasterboard sheathing occurs only after the complete construction of the structure. You can start on the right side. The first sheet will reach the doorway. On average, its width is 60 cm. The sheet should be prepared in advance, in accordance with the dimensions of the structure.
The sheet is sewn with a distance of 1 cm from the floor and 0.5 cm from the ceiling. It is better to start mounting one sheet at the bottom, and then throw the missing piece on top.
Docking of sheets should occur on the middle of the surface of the profiles. To do this, use a rack profile. An additional profile is mounted to the first sheet that has been installed on the frame. Then mount the second sheet of drywall.
Sheathing the partition, the screws are mounted with an interval of 15 cm. For jumpers, the step will be less. The chamfer from the ends of the gypsum plaster is also cut off. In this case, the surface for the joints will be straight, not rounded.
Soundproofing and communications tab
During the installation of the partition, communication systems are often installed to guide them to the separated part of the room. Before suturing the second side, lay an electric wire in it. This allows, for example, to install the switch in a drywall partition, in order to make lighting in the second half of the room.
A hole with a diameter of 35 mm is produced in the wall. A corrugated pipe is laid there and a wire is passed through it. It is located in the center of the frame. Also make a hole for the switch for lighting. A chandelier or a lamp is mounted on the wall in the right place.
Also, mineral wool can be laid in the partition. It is environmentally friendly, so it can easily be used in residential premises. Often this is done to increase sound insulation. For this, rolled mineral wool is well suited.
Completion of construction work
In the process of completing construction work, the second half of the structure is sewn up with all the elements embedded in it. Then GKL puttying is carried out. Then the required decorative interior decoration is created. This can be painting, applying wallpaper or other lining options.
