The Icon of the Mother of God âGetting rid of the troubles of the afflictedâ is a great shrine, which thousands of pilgrims annually seek to see. People come to her from everywhere. After all, the icon âGetting rid of the troubles of the afflictedâ gives them hope in getting rid of suffering and misfortunes, before it, believers pray for the health of children, getting rid of drunkenness and various diseases.
Here you can also hear stories of numerous miraculous healings and of the descending Divine help. And the way the âRidding from the Troubles of the Afflictedâ icon in Arzamas appeared is akin to a real miracle. And these days they occur quite rarely.
The appearance of a wonderful icon
Very close to Diveevo is the female Arzamas St. Nicholas Monastery. More recently, pilgrims did not even want to visit its dilapidated buildings. And people came to the Epiphany Church only to file notes, light candles, and immediately rushed to the bus stop to return to their usual mundane affairs upon returning home.
Everything changed in 1997. It was then that an icon was brought to the monastery by two residents of Arzamas. However, it was even difficult to call a dark board, inconspicuous in appearance, which one of the women found in her own barn. It was also impossible to see if there was any image on it, and what it was. That is why the monastery sisters took this board to the storeroom, which contained icons unsuitable for service.
Wonderful transformation
At one point, mother George visited the abbot, who was the abbess of the monastery. After viewing all the icons there, she ordered a dark board brought by women to be placed in a frame, and then raised to the temple, in order to pray to the Most Holy Theotokos herself.
All her instructions were fulfilled, and the nuns began to ask before this image from the Queen of Heaven's favor in their affairs. So the icon "Ridding of the troubles of the afflicted" came to Arzamas in the monastery. Soon, a small bright spot suddenly appeared on the black board. It seemed that the ray of sunshine highlighted on the icon a small oval part, where the neck of the Mother of God and the handle of a baby were depicted. A more intensive update of the icon began in 2000, in the middle of summer. It seemed that someone invisible was removing thin layers of black on a framed board. Then the faces of the Savior and the Mother of God appeared. However, the name of the icon was not dismantled.
Picture
The spot that initially appeared on the icon was in size from 10 to 15 cm. But after the summer of 2000, it began to grow rapidly. This made it possible to describe the icon of the Mother of God "Ridding of the troubles of the afflicted." Gradually, the faces of the Savior and Mother of God began to be cleansed. Soon, a crown appeared on the head of the Queen of Heaven. The blessing pen of the little Savior also became visible. Further, his legs appeared, which rested on the right hand of the Mother of God. The colors of the clothes also became clear. All this transformation took place not smoothly and unevenly, as a human hand would do.
Cleansing the inscription
Once St. Nicholas Monastery was visited by a Riga nun. She saw the board and joyfully declared that the Angels were engaged in her purification. Then the nun suggested that this is the icon of the Mother of God "Ridding of the troubles of the afflicted." But at that time no one betrayed her words of special significance. The fact that the Riga nun was right became clear in the summer of 2001, when the inscription was completely cleared.
Pilgrimage
Today, people continue to hurry, but at the same time they still make time to sing the akathist to the icon âRid of the suffering of the afflictedâ and to adhere to it. At the same time, they begin to rejoice, like children, when the lamp that burns next to the icon begins to exude a fragrance.
To date, the icon "Getting rid of the troubles of the afflicted" is in an accessible place for believers. She was brought here by sisters for pilgrims who went to the image of the Mother of God. It was noted that the colorful layer of this icon was almost showered. The holy image exudes a tree.

And now every week, with the exception of the period of Lent, an akathist is read in the monastery in front of the icon "Getting rid of the troubles of the afflicted." There are many wonderful stories that happened after such prayers. One of the first concerns getting rid of the open form of tuberculosis of a woman who prayed in front of the icon "Getting rid of the troubles of the afflicted." Some of these stories are recorded in a notebook, which is located in the monastery. Here you can find many stories of parishioners who told about their deliverance from troubles and ailments. Moreover, every year about 3 thousand letters arrive in the monastery. Where exactly is the icon "Getting rid of the troubles of the afflicted"? Address: Arzamas, Cathedral Square, 1. Letters are often written here that describe people's requests for prayers before this image.

The icon "Getting rid of the troubles of the afflicted" in Arzamas attracts many pilgrims. People come here not only from Russia, but also from other countries. They specially go to the temple located on Sobornaya Square to bow to the icon of the Virgin "Ridding from the troubles of the afflicted" and anoint themselves with oil taken from her lamp. Here they put candles and read an akathist. By this they ask the Queen of Heavenly Divine help. Akathist is quite short. It takes 15 minutes to read it. However, for those who have already done this at least once, the words of the chant have acquired great power.
