Stone polish

Traditional varnishes are designed to impregnate wood. However, there is a whole group of varnishes, the purpose of which is to protect concrete and brick. Today, quite a lot of varnish manufacturers are known, among which the consumer can choose for himself. The varnishes of well-known manufacturers “H&C”, “Sherwin-Williams”, “Promo”, “KrasKo”, “Olympus” and others are popular.

Stone varnish is designed to protect and impregnate concrete. It is used when it is necessary to obtain a durable coating, which would be transparent or create the effect of a natural wet stone. After drying on a solid surface, high-quality varnish should come to just such a state.

Polyurethane-based stone lacquer is a particularly strong composition for protecting concrete. It is used for indoor and outdoor use. It is extremely easy to apply it on hard surfaces; it is very resistant to chemical and physical irritants, high humidity and sudden temperature changes. When applied, the effect of wet stone is observed: the surface, even in the dry state, looks a little moist and shimmers in the sun.

Natural stone varnish is used mainly for protective purposes. They are impregnated with surfaces of cement, concrete, decorative stone, brickwork, tiles. In addition, varnishes are used as a topcoat for these types of coatings. The composition shows the texture well and hides the scratches on the surface of the stone.

Stone varnish has a variety of properties. It is a polyurethane one-component composition, the solidification process of which occurs under the influence of air and moisture. The varnish penetrates deeply into microcracks, dedusts the surface and makes it even stronger. The coating provides an excellent barrier to environmental protection.

After varnishing the stone surfaces in operation become much more picky: they can withstand the most difficult conditions (they are not afraid of temperature changes from -90 degrees to +50), they are resistant to high humidity, they are not susceptible to moderate mechanical damage.

Stone varnish is sprayed to the surface and distributed with a special brush or roller with a velor or short-haired coating. For internal work, varnish must be applied in a well-ventilated area, at a temperature of at least zero and no more than thirty degrees. Stone and concrete are pre-cleaned of all substances on its surface (liquid, plaque, dust), polished, re-dusted and dried.

The processed stone can be varnished in several layers, each of which is applied only after the previous one has completely dried (after about 4-5 hours). The drying time of the varnish depends on the air temperature: the lower it is, the longer it will take.

Before starting work, it is recommended to make a test application on a small surface area so that you can evaluate the quality of the coating. Varnishes are flammable materials with complex chemical compounds, so you need to work with them in compliance with safety precautions.

Stone varnish prevents the formation of fungus, salt stains on the material, increases the resistance of the mineral base of the stone, and blocks the capillaries of porous surfaces. The composition has high fluidity and adhesion, good astringent and penetrating properties.

It is used to protect walls, floors, flows, various products and structures made of natural and artificial stone. The processing of stone products in the open air is limited. It is not recommended to apply it in the absence of a lower waterproofing.
