We have long been accustomed to the fact that Audi is not just the largest auto manufacturer in Europe. This is a company whose engineers are not afraid to implement the most daring ideas. It is assumed that the new Audi A9 will not be an exception. To the already existing 8 models from the “A” line, another “premium” supercar will soon be added. It is hard to imagine, but the length of the new elite car will be more than 5 meters. And if you add to everything else a luxurious interior, trimmed with rare varieties of wood and first-class leather, it becomes seriously interesting!
History of creation
It is noteworthy that initially the Audi A9 Concept was based on the futuristic Hybrid Sports Sedan Concept. The author of the project and drawings was the Spanish designer Daniel Garcia. It was his sketches that laid the foundation for the creation of the world's first car with the active introduction of nanotechnology. You can list all the "chips" of the novelty for as long as you want: here is a modern robotic gearbox, and an ultra-sensitive active suspension, and carbon brakes, and much more. In addition, the owner with just the touch of a button, the owner will be able to change the color (!) Of the car. The use of nanotechnology in the design allows you to eliminate small scratches and dents on the body without human intervention, which hitherto was not on any car.
Naturally, a model with the above options will be sold in limited quantities. For those who want to buy an Audi A9 at a reasonable price, a simplified version of the car will be produced in two versions: rear-wheel drive and Quattro. Both models will be based on the Audi A8 platform . In total, two types of body will be launched: a coupe and a convertible with a convertible top. According to media reports, the car will be a two-door, not a four-door, as previously reported. However, to appreciate the idea of engineers, just look at the Audi A9. Photos show that it looks more like a modern spaceship, which makes the car even more desirable. The hood and roof of the car look particularly elegant, which seem to merge together.
According to representatives of the company, if the Audi A9 receives universal recognition, then in addition to cars with powerful six and eight-cylinder engines, a “charged” version will appear. It is possible that the Germans can install a hurricane 6.3-liter W12 engine under the hood. If we talk about the power unit in more detail, then motorists will be offered several options at once:
- 290 hp six-cylinder turbocharged engine and a volume of 3 l;
- 211 hp six-cylinder engine and a volume of 3 l;
- 520 hp W8 engine and a volume of 4 liters. with two turbines;
- 420 hp W8 engine with two 4 liter turbines
The production of Audi A9 coupes and convertibles will be launched at the factory in Neckarsulm, the official price has not been disclosed, but according to preliminary information, it will start at $ 140,000. And while Audi seeks to seize market leadership, its competitors are already on its heels. For example, Mercedes-Benz has already submitted to court its new CL model, and Porsche, Aston Martin and other auto giants will not give up their positions. Serial production of cars is scheduled for late 2014 - early 2015.
