Room zoning - effective design technique

Unfortunately a large number of people, they are owners of insufficiently spacious housing. So, often a family of several people lives in a small two- or three-room apartment. What to do if the housing has a small area, and the purpose of the rooms have to be combined? In this case, use the long-established technique of interior designers - zoning. It allows you to visually increase the area of the room, create comfortable conditions with complementary functionality.

There are a number of options in which the zoning of the room allows you to combine the most different purposes of the room: kitchen-dining room, living room-bedroom, hallway-living room, bedroom-study, children's-bedroom, children's room for heterosexual children, etc. Before proceeding to zoning, you should clearly determine the functional purpose of each part of the room. There are a number of ways in which you can divide the space of a room. Most of them require a certain redevelopment and significant financial resources, but some, the so-called visual ones, can do without large expenses and are available to almost everyone.

One of the most popular visual methods is zoning a room with wallpaper, various types of plasters or paints of different colors and textures. It is the least expensive, but it is very effective. Thus, many designers consider the zoning of a children's room to be the most optimal, since it allows you to allocate various zones in it (games, recreation, study) and quickly change the color of surfaces depending on the age and gender of the child.

Another effective way of dividing rooms into zones is the use of various materials, types and colors of floor coverings. For a clearer separation of zones within the same room, various floor heights are often used. It can be lifted both in straight lines and in graceful curved lines. So, the living room-bedroom looks very impressive, in which the sleeping place is raised in relation to the living room area and is beautifully draped with fabric. Often, under such a berth, roomy drawers for bedding are arranged.

A very spectacular move is the continuation of the separation not only on the floor, but also on the walls and ceiling. Thus, zones of a room that are different in functional value are clearly defined, especially if this technique is enhanced by different colors of surfaces.

If the room is quite spacious and bright, you can apply the technique of dividing the space using racks, shelves from different materials or decorative walls. The main thing in this case is that such a partition does not prevent the penetration of a sufficient amount of sunlight into the interior of the room. Typically, such racks do not have a rear wall. They are not too loaded with various objects, since they play more a decorative role than a functional one.

Now, many designers have become more likely to use textiles, which have always been considered a great way to zoning rooms. Using fabrics of various textures, you can veil or, conversely, emphasize different zones. Zoning of the room is done with the help of decorative curtains or curtains made of a wide variety of materials.

One of the most ancient means of dividing rooms into zones is decorative screens. On sale there are a large number of screens made in a variety of styles.

Also, do not forget that the zoning of the room can be done using various furniture. So, the zones can be separated from each other by a sofa, armchairs, a table or a closet, as well as other interior items.

An important role in the zoning of modern interiors is played by a variety of lighting. When using different types of lighting devices for different zones, a wonderful visual effect is created.

Large rooms can be divided using sliding partitions (as in wardrobes). With this division, it is possible to achieve not only visual, but also acoustic isolation of zones. In spacious rooms, stationary partitions are often used, which are usually made of drywall. They can be of various heights.

When choosing a zoning method, the area and outlines of the room, the height of the walls, the number and shape of doors and windows should be taken into account.
