A role system is a concept that exists in a large number of areas. In each of them it means the same thing. True, the shade is slightly different depending on it. And what is this difference expressed in? In principle, the concept of "Role-playing system" has gained great popularity in gaming. But it is also part of social science, in which it essentially means the same thing. Well, let's see what role systems are, what they are and what are their characteristic features.
What is a role system?
A role system is a set of rules specific to playing a specific role. A role is the rules that are required of something or someone, expressing its position in the system and the functions that this living or non-living element performs. The role is characteristic of a large number of living creatures and inanimate objects. It can be not only people, but also, for example, animals.
So, the dog’s role systems are:
- Sapper. This system is expressed in the search for explosives.
- Defender of the owner. In this case, the role system is expressed in the fact that the dog protects the one who feeds it.

Social role system
It represents the totality of the social roles that a person has. What is a social role? Everything is quite simple here. This is a model of behavior that is played out by a person according to certain rules that were dictated to him. There are a huge number of social roles. And each person plays his own.
How do you know which social role you are playing specifically? Everything is very simple here. You need to simply answer the question: "Who am I?" The answer you receive will characterize your social role. You can be a mother, father, schoolboy, student, rich person, poor person and so on. And you play according to these rules.
Each person can both improve the quality of the roles that he plays, socializing in society, and change them. It all depends on the goals that he pursues. Thus, a poor person can become rich if he already considers himself to be so. This sounds somewhat paradoxical, but true. Already far from one person was convinced that this advice works.
Each person is responsible for what kind of subpersonality or social role. This will be called a personal role-playing system. And in it, the main unit is the social role. A role system can be not only a set of rules, but also a complex of various roles. This is when it comes to society. The role system in society is an essential element of its organization.
Game Role System
This concept applies only to role-playing games and those related to interaction. An ideal role-playing system is implemented in multiplayer games, where there is full interaction with real people, albeit in such a virtual space. Nevertheless, the role-playing game system is a very important element, which is individual for each particular "entertainment".
An averaged role-playing system will be given here, but depending on a specific game, it may vary. Each manufacturer offers its own role-playing systems with unique features. But usually data is available in all games. It has the following elements:
- Experience. It is the main means of achieving power by the player. Also, this indicator is available in other games where a role-playing system may also be present, but not directly RPGs.
- Levels. Each character in role-playing games on the computer has a certain level of development, which leaves the experience of this character. On what level he has, his primary skills, which determine his power, depend.
- Primary and secondary skills. Primary skills are basic skills such as attack, defense and a number of other abilities. The survival and ability to fight depends on them. But to facilitate or aggravate this task, secondary skills help, which also add additional features to the character in a role-playing game.
