early years
The future governor Sergey Sitnikov was born on January 18, 1963 in Kostroma. He never publicly talks about his background, parents and childhood. After school, Sitnikov entered the Pedagogical Institute. N. A. Nekrasov, at the Faculty of History. And in 1986 he received a diploma in "teacher of history and social studies." As a student, he began to engage in community service and established himself well. However, after graduation, he did not go to work at school, as distribution required, but went to serve in the USSR Armed Forces.
The beginning of a professional path
After demobilization, Sergei Sitnikov decided to continue his Komsomol activities and came to work in the regional district committee of the Komsomol. First, he took the position of instructor, and then headed the ideological department, and eventually rose to the secretary of the regional Komsomol committee in the Kostroma region. In 1991, the Communist Youth League was dissolved, and Sitnikov is changing the scope of his activity. He goes to work in the editorial office of the newspaper "Young Leninist", which was almost immediately renamed the "Youth Line". In fact, Sitnikov continued his well-known work with young people, only in a new light. Work in the Komsomol and in the newspaper gave Sergey the opportunity to develop many useful contacts that would be useful to him later.
Administration job
In 1992, a committee on youth, family and childhood affairs was created in the Kostroma Regional Administration. The governor then was Valery Arbuzov, he was familiar with Sitnikov on the party line. Therefore, when the need arose to find “his” person to manage the new structure, he remembered the acquaintance. Sergey headed the Committee, at that time he was only 29 years old, it was a significant position for such a young man. The work was familiar to him and familiar. Work in the Government
In 2005, Sitnikov took part in the elections to the regional Duma of the 4th convocation according to the lists of the United Russia party. In the Duma, he worked on the Rules and Ethics Committee. But until the end of his term in the Duma, he did not work. In 2007, he leaves for Moscow, where he holds the post of deputy head of the Federal Service for Media Supervision and the Protection of Cultural Heritage. Sitnikov said that he did not have the opportunity to refuse this appointment. In 2008, this structure is being reformed, as a result of which two new committees appear. Sitnikov becomes deputy head of Rossvyaznadzor, which controls the activities of the media. In December 2008, Sergey took the chair of his boss and headed Rossvyaznadzor. Working in this capacity, he is a member of a large number of various commissions, including the competitive broadcasting commission and the radio frequency commission.
Governor
On April 13, 2012, Sergey’s life instantly and radically changed. President D. Medvedev prematurely fired at the request of the then head of the Kostroma region Igor Slyunyaev. And a new appointment is received by Sergei Sitnikov. The governor left Sergey a not very good legacy; the region needed a strong leader who knew the region well. The region today has problems with the implementation of the local budget, but the governor is still confidently maintaining the confidence of voters and the President.

The head of the region is a position that almost always becomes the object of criticism and is not always justified.
