Many stars take nicknames for themselves. Sometimes they are unusual. For example, Dmitry Chekov is better known as Nikiforovna. He sang, imitating the old woman’s voice, many did not even suspect that in fact behind this name was a young and attractive guy. He became a legend at the beginning of the XXI century.
Creation of the Nikiforovna Group
Prior to creating Nikiforovna, Dmitry Chekov had already established himself as an unusual musician. He was able to play many instruments, independently arranged songs and wrote them. Colleagues in the group recall Dmitry as a very bright and creative person. At the age of 17, he wrote the song “Sex”, which later became a hit in the album of the same name.
Later, the arrangement of the hits was given to another person - Fedor Kunitsyn, and Dmitry Chekov still wrote most of the texts. His biography at that time made a serious turn, and he turned from an ordinary guy into a legend of the domestic electronic scene.
What is unusual about the project of Dmitry Chekov?
At the beginning of the 2000s there were a lot of projects with dressing up in women.
Sergey Penkin and Verka Serduchka toured the country, a variety of stars regularly appeared in dresses. Nevertheless, Nikiforovna stood out strongly from the standards of show business. The voice was really old, and a young man sang at concerts.
The project was most popular in the Russian outback, but after participating in the Sausage Shop 3 festival, the songs of MS Vspyshkin and Nikiforovna scattered around the world. As colleagues, Dmitry Chekov (whose photo is given in the article) chose an equally interesting artist. Vspyshkin's thick beard looked unusual against the backdrop of youth clothing. Fans who have never seen a duet on stage were often surprised that Vspyshkin was a man of age. Artists were often confused with each other.
The albums Nikiforovna and Vspyshkina sold well. According to official figures, more than 7 million licensed copies were sold, and no one knows how many pirated versions there were. The hit "Me rushing", thanks to which Dmitry Chekov became the brightest star, is still included in the New Year's collections and in the rotation of radio stations in December and January.
Death of an idol
In 2011, many fans of Russian music and fans of the Nikiforovna art were shocked by the news of the death of the idol. On the day of his death, Dmitry Chekov decided to ride a motorcycle with his friend. The musician was in the passenger seat and after the accident received a serious head injury. He died before the ambulance arrived, although for some time after the accident he was still breathing.
He was buried at the Kinoveevsky cemetery. Until now, fans visit his grave and remember their idol. Dmitry’s official group in one of the social networks has turned into a page in memory of a talented young man. The posts in it are regularly updated, although more than five years have passed since the death. Not so long ago, a monument stolen there by relatives was stolen from the grave. Fans teamed up and assisted Nelly Chekova (the singer’s mother) in the search. Today it is known that a new monument will be erected on the grave in spring.
