What is oriental style in the interior?

Modern interior designers have long turned their eyes to the east and have adopted the best of Oriental culture. Ethnic style smoothly enters into fashion and does not give up its positions. Its most popular destinations are:

- African;

- Arabic

- Chinese

- Indian.

The culture of each eastern country is truly unique. It is saturated with many original decor elements, ornaments in textiles, dishes, various color schemes. All oriental styles have their own trends in the design of the room.

It is not necessary at all, changing the interior, to strictly observe the peculiarities of the life of a particular culture, you can choose only certain elements that seem especially close to you. There should be a measure in everything. It is not necessary to accurately copy the room of a resident of an eastern country. In our apartment, in a high-rise building, it will look ridiculous.

Asian minimalism

This direction should include the culture of Japan and China. It is characterized by light colors with bright contrasting impregnations. As a rule, the main tone is white, sand, gray, blended beige, and some elements can be yellow, bright red or blue. It must be remembered that the inhabitants of the East are used to strictly observing the rules of Feng Shui, so the chosen color always carries some symbolic meaning. For example, the oriental style in the interior using red is associated with a favorable environment for decision-making, green - for thought and concentration. Usually used natural, natural materials: bamboo, stone, coconut fiber.

Asian style features

The interior in Chinese or Japanese style is a free space, an abundance of light, very little furniture. For example, an oriental-style living room interior may consist of a small rectangular sofa, a wooden table, a pair of soft benches and a TV. In this case, small decorative details will add oriental flavor: figurines, caskets, hand-painted floor vases, wall ornaments depicting birds and flowers.

Arabic style

It differs from the Asian riot of colors, vaulted ceilings, a play of light, lace carvings. Of great importance is the textile - a lot of carpets on floors and walls, canopies over beds, colorful pillows and curtains. Color should organically saturate all elements of the decor. For example, curtains can be made of heavy curtains with a jacquard pattern, shiny elements are perfectly acceptable. Fringes or brushes are sewn along their edges.

Lighting and furniture

Oriental style in the interior of the room gives an important place to lighting effects. In addition to the main lighting, it is advisable to use wall lamps, floor lamps and sconces in an oriental style. Such an interior should be complemented by heavy furniture made of natural wood without legs, with soft mattresses and plenty of pillows. Do not forget about woodcarving, which is inherent in the Arabic style. Partitions and openwork screens add sophistication and lightness to the interior.

Making a bedroom

Not all residents of eastern countries are rich and can afford luxurious Sultan chambers. However, our designers mean oriental style precisely expensive decoration with brocade, silk and velvet, with exquisite handmade carpets, gilded jugs and dishes, tables inlaid with mother-of-pearl and other similar β€œtrifles”.

In a typical city apartment, it is very difficult to recreate the interior of a bedroom in an oriental style in this form. There are several reasons for this. It should be a room with a high ceiling and a fairly impressive size. It should freely fit a spacious bed and at the same time occupy only a small part of the room.

It is generally accepted that an oriental-style bedroom must certainly have red walls, but you must admit that relaxing in such a room will be problematic. Today, residents of eastern countries in the bedroom interior are increasingly using light colors for wall decoration: sand, ivory, beige. More saturated shades are used: yellow, pink, muted orange.

A mandatory element of such a bedroom is a variety of niches. They are located at different levels, and they perform various functions - they place decorative elements, clothes, lamps. Such niches are easy to make from drywall. If the height of the ceiling allows, the beautiful walls in the eastern interior are complemented by an exquisitely executed ceiling. Often it is tiered, with ornaments and carvings. In the city apartment you can use the eaves and ceiling painting.

oriental style in the interior of the apartment

Oriental style in the interior of the bedroom has another feature. It does not have high cabinets for storing clothes. They are successfully replaced by inlaid and patterned dressers, chests and sideboards. Clothes are put into special niches with openwork doors or curtains made of fabric. Basically, the furniture is massive, made of natural wood and beautifully decorated.

Oriental style in the interior of the bedroom is emphasized by a wide and low bed. In its design, a canopy and drapery are often used, behind which it is easy to hide various flaws.

It is probably hard to imagine an apartment fully decorated in this style. It will not always be appropriate to meet with a business partner in such a room. Although, of course, this is possible in special cases. Oriental style in the interior of the apartment is more likely an exception than a rule. More often in this way they design a separate room for a comfortable stay, and not the entire living space.
