“Boombox” is a Kiev group performing music in the styles of rock, funk, hip-hop.
History of the creation and success of the team
The band was founded in 2004 in the Ukrainian capital by the musician who became the vocalist of the group, Andrei Khlyvnyuk and guitarist Andrei Samoilo. The band is a member of the independent musicians union "Breath." The musicians perform songs not only in Ukrainian, but also in Russian; there are also several English-language songs in their repertoire.
Recorded in record time, the first album of performers "Melomania" (2005) immediately became popular at regional radio stations. The second album "Family Business" (2006), recorded by the famous company Moon records blew up all Ukrainian radio stations and received the status of "gold". A little later, the popular songs of the band “Vakhteram” and “Ta4to” were broadcast on Moscow radio stations and immediately gained immense popularity. From this began the musical activity of the collective in Russia.
In June 2010, the Boombox group, whose photo you see in the article, released the All Inclusive album, the songs of which sound in a rock style. Despite the fact that only 2 new compositions were included in the album, it gained unprecedented popularity. The fourth studio album, entitled "Middle Age", was released in November 2011.
The first long concert tour of the team in the cities of Ukraine was held in January 2008 with unprecedented full houses. And on February 9, 2010, the musicians held their own recital in one of the clubs in Moscow, which exceeded all expectations of the performers. In 2011, the team held a concert tour in the cities of the USA and Canada. And at the end of 2013, Boombox toured the Czech Republic and Germany.
Frequent flights prompted the group to write their last album, entitled “Terminal B”, which was presented to the public in 2013.
Composition of the group
The frontman of the band is Andrey Khlyvnyuk, who is engaged not only in vocals, but also in writing lyrics for the band. The Boombox guitarist is Andrei Samoilo, nicknamed The Fly. The bass guitar was mastered by Denis Levchenko. Alexander Lyulyakin plays percussion instruments, Pavel Litvinenko plays keyboards. The team also has a DJ - Valentin Matiyuk. The band is being produced by Alexey Sogomonov. Although the Boombox group was founded in Kiev, its entire composition is from other cities of the country: the vocalist is from Cherkasy, the guitarist is from Lutsk, and the DJ is from Novovolynsk.
Soloist of the Boombox Group
The vocalist of the Boombox band was born in the Ukrainian city of Cherkasy on December 31, 1979. Khlyvnyuk showed his love for music as a child, so he entered a music school. He studied playing the accordion and seriously engaged in vocal activities. The performer began to write his first poems at school.
In addition to these hobbies, Andrey had the ability to draw. But, having graduated from a specialized educational institution, Khlyvnyuk enters the Cherkasy National University named after Bogdan Khmelnitsky. In parallel, the musician begins to play in the team "Mandarin Paradise." After winning one of the regional music festivals, Andrei moved to Kiev with his team. Here he changes his musical preferences, masters new styles and just sings and writes for his pleasure. This is how the “Graphite” team appears, consisting of three members of various Ukrainian groups, which subsequently became the “Boombox” group. Andrei is experimenting in various musical styles - jazz, funk, swing, rock and roll, but in the end he dwells on something mixed, peculiar music for the soul.
The personal life of Andrei Khlyvnyuk finally successfully developed in 2010 - the musician married the journalist Anna Kopytova. To date, the couple has two children.
Khlyvnyuk also takes part in Ukrainian television projects - in 2015 he became a member of the jury of such a famous television show as “X-Factor”.
Band songs
The first songs of the Kiev group are released exclusively in Ukrainian and immediately gain popularity among their listeners. But later, the Boombox group begins to release songs in Russian and English. The most famous among the songs of the collective are the songs “The Watchmen” and “Ta4to”. It was they who helped the performers to gain immense popularity on the radio stations of Russia and Ukraine and for a long time sunk into the hearts of the audience.
Songs of the “Boombox” group also became soundtracks for such Russian and Ukrainian films as “Ashes”, “Rejection”, “Red Pearl of Love” (“The Watchmen”), “Hottabych” (E-mail).
Awards and Achievements
The group’s first most popular single, “Vakhteram”, was in the top 10 radio program “Hit Parade of Two Capitals” for about 20 weeks.
In December 2007, the Boombox group received an award from Maximum Radio in the Opening of the Year nomination.
The vocalist of the band Andrei Khlyvnyuk has many awards for authorship of lyrics, including the YUNA Prize.
The group also has in its arsenal such a well-known award in Russia as the Golden Gramophone.
