Jen Psaki is perhaps one of the most famous American politicians at the moment. Her name is familiar even to our citizens, who until recently had not shown any interest in the work of the US Department of State! The explanation is simple - her photographs and statements often appear in all domestic media, and even the most remote publications from politics did not escape this fate.
Brief curriculum vitae
Jen Psaki was born near New York, in the town of Stamford (Connecticut). It happened on December 1, 1978. Her mother was a psychotherapist, her father worked as a builder. James, father of Jen, has now completed his construction practice and is on a well-deserved retirement. Mother, Elin Midway, is still a renowned practicing psychotherapist, whom her patients in Greenwich greatly value. By the way! Until recently, there was practically no information about Jenâs real age and origin, but her sharply increased popularity (especially in our country) simply forced the politician to reveal the cards.
Almost the entire population of her hometown adheres exclusively to democratic views. The Jen Psaki family is no exception, and therefore it is not surprising that the girl chose to start her career precisely in the US Democratic Party. Despite her American origin, she herself admitted that the roots of her family go to Poland and Greece.
Education
Unlike many of his peers, Jen from an early age set herself the task of obtaining the highest quality and versatile education. First, she (in 1996) successfully graduates from Greenwich High School (in her native state), and four years later she receives a diploma from the College of William and Mary (Virginia). By the way, Jen Psaki is still considered one of his best students there. The growth of her career is largely due to a good education.
Teachers and classmates say that Jen has always been distinguished from other students by her activity and curiosity. She was very enthusiastic about sports (and especially succeeded in swimming), and was also one of the most prominent members of the Chi Omega organization. Due to her activity and ability to establish contact with people, Psaki (whose biography we are considering) quickly achieved success in her political career.
Political activity
Her career in American politics started in 2001, with many prominent figures being Jen's teachers. She started as a member of the Democratic Party, and her first task was just the same to conduct campaigning in Iowa. At this time, she âpromotedâ the two most successful Democratic candidates - Tom Wilsack and Tom Harkin.
In this position, the girl showed herself remarkably, and therefore, soon her first breakthrough was outlined in her career. She received the position of spokeswoman in the elected company of the notorious John Kerry. It was back in 2004. She did an excellent job with her work, and therefore in 2005-2006 she became director of public relations. Its boss was the head of the House of Representatives, Joseph Crawley.
Three years later, her career receives a new incentive. Jen receives the post of secretary of the young and promising Senator Barack Obama. Why in our country does every schoolchild know the name of Psaki, an ordinary, in fact, secretary? The whole point is in her statements, which attracted attention to Jen from the very first days of the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis.
Already now you can publish a real "dictionary of winged expressions." Jen Psaki, whose quotes make even unsmiling people laugh, has gained incredible popularity in Runet. Owners of fun sites just can't wait for her new performances, every second of which instantly becomes a meme and generates a whole wave of demotivators. From the very first days, the entire Internet community laughed at its âcarousel mechanismsâ and âRostov mountainsâ. They couldnât get any clear answers from the lady: she didnât explain the essence of these âroundaboutsâ, and refused to search the mountains in Rostov on a map of Russia.
The absurdity of many of her phrases she explains simply: "I became a victim of Russian propaganda." How to understand this, no one knows. Long before the first wave of sanctions against our country, it was already stipulated at the conference that the United States had already taken âtough measuresâ against Russia, for which the US Department of State subsequently pouted. Even the Barack Obama administration at one time had to make excuses for the fact that false information was allowed to be announced at an official press conference in the presence of dozens of foreign journalists.
In the course of further briefings, the journalists nevertheless âsqueezedâ Jen, and she recognized her words as absurd, but nevertheless she still blames everything that happened on the âcomplexity of the translationâ. And now we will talk about those of her pearls, thanks to which Jen Psaki is known today.
"Fuck the EU", or original Russian curses
In early February 2014, Victoria Nuland uttered the phrase âFuck the EUâ in a telephone conversation, which immediately flew around the world and painfully hit the pride of European politicians. We will not translate it. Psaki tried to âwhitewashâ her boss in negotiations with reporters: âSurely you know that at the age of 23, Victoria once spent eight months aboard a Russian ship. Surely she recognized such vocabulary there. â To this, reporters quite rightly noted that Russian sailors are unlikely to swear in English. Psaki herself again turned everything into a joke. That's just the European journalists from "Fuck the EU" was somehow not laughing.
About office updates
In April of the same year, the lady commented on Russia's demand sent to the Ukrainian government to pay off all debts for gas delivered to Ukraine. When journalists tried to find out from Psaki why she finds it strange and âillegalâ to legally demand money from contracts, the politician got confused again: âI know what the Russians say. But if you take into account past contracts and the current situation, it becomes obvious that this is no longer a business dispute. "
The notorious Matthew Lee tried for several minutes to find out whether Russia has the right to demand money for actually delivered goods. Psaki promised to "clarify in the office" and immediately proceeded to consider another issue.
This phrase became the basis for hundreds of jokes, especially in business circles: âThe bank asks the client if he will pay on an overdue loan. He promises to clarify this issue at the office. â Itâs known how Jen Psaki herself reacted to these anecdotes: âThe USA is constantly recording Russian information attacks. These stories are one of the varieties of such aggression. â
Belorussian coast
In May of that same year, Psaki threatened Belarus that the sixth US fleet would immediately be deployed to the Belarusian coast if Lukashenko decided to invade Ukraine. In fairness, it is worth noting that this statement was not documented. It is possible that this is just folk art. However, the Belarusian press service of Lukashenko himself took this threat quite officially: âIf the US sixth fleet approaches the coast of Belarus, the 17th Belarusian space fleet will immediately attack Washington.â Comments are redundant.
About Europe, supplying gas to Russia, and carousels
And again in May 2014, Jen pleased us with a new statement: âThe gas that goes from Western Europe through Ukraine to Russiaâ ... Psaki quickly realized that she had said something wrong, but it was too late: the journalists quickly spread her geographical revelations around the world. At the same referendum, she loudly condemned the elections in the DPR and LPR: âWe will in no way recognize the results of these elections. On social networks, we received information about voting children ... about the use of elected carousels. â
Obviously, the last sentence resonated with Matthew Lee. He insinuously asked what an "elective carousel" is. Psaki blushed and admitted that she was just reading a text from a piece of paper and had no idea about the interpretation of this term. When Lee asked if Donbassâs politicians were riding roundabouts during the elections, she said: âEveryone has their own technologies there.â
About a democratic and strong Ukraine
When Marie Harf, Deputy Psaki, appeared at the next briefing in June 2015, the Russian Internet segment almost fell into mourning. Everyone thought that the statements of Jen Psaki led to her dismissal. But the âRunetâs starâ hastened to refute these rumors on Twitter: âIâm fighting the propaganda machine of the Russians and staying here, as well as a strong democratic Ukraine.â
Russian teachings - âarmed aggressionâ
When messages appeared in August about the upcoming exercises of Russian troops from the Central and Western districts, Jen again shocked everyone with the news: "Such exercises can be recognized as open provocation and aggression ... Russians urgently need to withdraw their troops from the Ukrainian border." Recall that the exercises were held at the Ashuluk training ground, from which there are more than one hundred kilometers from the nearest Ukrainian farms.
Fascinated by the geographical knowledge of the Americans, Nikolai Valuev promised to send Jen a parcel with a map of our country. In October 2014, Jen very carelessly mentioned the financing of protest rallies in Hong Kong by US funds. She directly told reporters that the US government itself coordinated the distribution of funds, directing them to these funds. Soon she changed her mind and did not answer more slippery questions.
