The PVA cable is a copper flexible wire, the functional purpose of which, as a rule, is household. The structure of his veins is multiwire. The main advantage of this type of cable, in comparison with others, is its high flexibility. In particular, according to the state standard, the fifth class is assigned to the cores according to this characteristic. Given the high degree of resistance to various mechanical loads and deformations, this indicator can be called very good.

The PVA cable has two layers of insulation: external and internal. The role of the material for their production is polyvinyl chloride plastic. They differ from each other in color and their geometric characteristics. Each core is twisted in a spiral and has additional protection in the form of a thin layer of PVC. As for the external insulation, it filled the voids between the veins. Its important value, in addition, is the provision of a round shape. It is this structure that determines the basic mechanical properties that the PVA cable boasts. An external durable PVC layer protects its cores from damage and deformation, and the use of copper guarantees a high degree of strength.

The shell of each of the veins has its own color. The standard colors are blue, brown, yellow-green, black and red. This is done to ensure compliance with international standards that are established for the designation of zero and phase conductors. It should be noted an important feature of the insulation of the cord, which is that it does not spread combustion.

Main applications

Very often, a PVA cable is used to provide the connection of various portable devices, which can be used by both small home appliances and more powerful devices - industrial plants or electric stoves. This is due to the fact that the wire has a fairly wide range of cross-sections, which ranges from 0.75 to 16 millimeters square. It should be noted that for each of them a cable is produced having two, three, four or five cores. This allows you to connect it to both single-phase and three-phase voltage. The use of this cord is not limited to extension alone. The PVA cable is often used in the form of internal wiring, as well as in the installation of industrial, household and outlet networks, even despite its seemingly not quite convenient shape for these purposes. The main thing is not to forget that the cores during installation must be inserted into the appropriate clamps or crimped with cable lugs.

Temperature mode

The PVA cable, the characteristics of which were described above, is manufactured in three versions relative to the temperature regime. The marking ā€œUā€ indicates that its use is allowed when the thermometer column shows from 40 degrees of frost to 40 degrees of heat. In all other cases, the temperature should be at least minus 25 degrees. As for the service life of this wire, it is 6 years, and when used in stationary conditions - about 10 years.
