Krasnodar is a city located in the south of the Russian Federation 1340 kilometers from Moscow. It is the center of the same name region. The city was founded in 1792 by Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, who moved to the Kuban after the Western Ciscaucasia became part of Russia. Yekaterinodar fortress was built in 1794. The last territory for the construction of the fortress was granted by Catherine the Great herself, in whose honor she was named.
