In honor of the completion of the construction, a solemn service was held, after which the landing gun fired. The following year, they began to conduct rites of baptism and weddings. Near the temple, a city cemetery was laid out.

Church Description

The Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God is an excellent architectural complex, the location of which became the central street of Vladivostok - Svetlanskaya. It is located near the Golden Horn - on the shores of this bay.

Nearly two hundred parishioners attend weekly Sunday services. On major religious holidays, this number increases significantly.

The cathedral is notable for the beauty of divine services, vestments of priests, interior decoration, and professional singing of prayer texts. This helps to create a unique atmosphere when the hearts of all who pray are united in a single impulse to be heard by the Lord.

For many believers, the temple has become a spiritual refuge, the second home that parishioners visit with great zeal.

A feature of the icon is the absence of Jesus in the arms of the Virgin. It is depicted on the canvas, which Mary revealed to people. This is the only version of the image of Mother Jesus in this interpretation. There are sharp swords under the feet of the Mother of God. In heaven there are angels, among which you can see the archangel Gabriel. He hands Mary white flowers.

The icon has great power. It was she who informed the sailors of the approaching protracted war. In the vision of sailor Fedor, who was a sincere Christian, the holy face asked to be transferred to Port Arthur so that the icon could protect Russian land from the invasion of enemies. Since then, the Theotokos has been protecting the Vladivostok land from adversity. During the persecution of the Christian faith, the image was lost. But several copies of the canvas, which today travel around the country, have been preserved.
