Tambov Football School officially began its history in 1983. Then the Sports Committee of the Tambov Region and the Regional Football Federation, with the support of the department of public education, opened a football department in the city youth sports school No. 7. In nine districts of the region, branches were opened that served as centers for the development of children's and youth football in the Tambov region and were to become, together with the regional youth sports school, a source of replenishment for the team of the second league of the USSR championship “Spartak” (Tambov).
From Sports School to Academy
In 2007, the Sports School No. 7 was given the status of an Olympic reserve school, which it already had on the fact of the extensive activities of the school.
Since 2009, the football department of the Youth Sports School № 7 of Tambov decided to take the name "Tambov Football Academy", due to the fact that he, as one of the 11 best in Russia, was awarded the status of a regional Olympic Training Center (CSC) by the Russian Football Union (RFU) ) with appropriate federal funding.
This circumstance led to the fact that by the end of the year the Football Academy legally absorbed the entire SDUSSHOR. According to the decree of the regional administration, all property and objects of the SDYUSSHOR No. 7 were transferred to the Academy.
In 2010, in the same way, the Academy included the former “colleague” - the School of Sports and Youth Sports.
The goal of the Football Academy is the same: to popularize football (and sport in general) among young residents of the Tambov region, to involve boys and girls in systematic physical education, to prepare highly qualified football players. Moreover, since 2013, the Tambov football club was formed in the city, which became the successor of Spartak and now acts on the second level of Russian football - the Football National League.
Infrastructure
The Tambov Football Academy is based at Lokomotiv Stadium. In 2007, it was seriously upgraded as part of the RFU's “Give Children a Stadium” program. Here is the center for training football players, there is an artificial football field, stands for several thousand seats, administrative buildings. There is a boarding school at the Academy.
The activities of the Academy are not limited to the city of Tambov. There are branches in the cities of the Tambov region Morshansk and Rasskazovo. However, the most powerful branch is located in Michurinsk, where the training base of the Academy is the local Lokomotiv stadium.
Teams of the Tambov Football Academy
It is impossible to train high-level football players without participating in tournaments, therefore, two teams were created at the Academy - male and female.
The male team of FC Academy of Football (Tambov) has been playing in the Chernozemye zone of the third (amateur) Russian championship division for quite some time. With the organization of the Tambov football club , the football pyramid in the region was somewhat rebuilt. The third division is now the youth team “Tambov-M”, in which there are many students of the Football Academy. At the beginning of June, the team took seventh place among the thirteen possible.
The women's team of the Academy of Football (Tambov) ZhFK plays in the South zone of the first division of the Russian championship. Tambov women are one of the strongest in their area; in recent years they have been constantly making their way to the final tournament of the best teams in the first division, where they are performing better and better. Last season, the Women's Academy won the zone, winning seven out of ten matches.

Reviews
The Football Academy (Tambov) and the Tambov Football School are some of the best, if not the best in the region.
There is, of course, what to improve at the Academy both at the level of training work and infrastructure. The main thing is that football in the Tambov region has not died. Not in all regions, children's and youth teams of sports schools have the opportunity to regularly go to competitions, and even talking about football players is unnecessary. There are only a few dozen cities and towns in Russia where there is women's football.
