The uniqueness of the faculty at the first time of activity still consisted in the fact that students were trained according to their own programs and curricula. At that time, environmental specialties were new. State educational standards for ecology did not exist.
Faculty of Ecology today
The Faculty of Ecology of RUDN University is currently a developed, modern unit that occupies a significant place in the structure of the university. All achievements are the merit of university employees. The contribution to the development was primarily made by people who over the years of work have held the position of deans:
- Kozlov Yuri Pavlovich (from 1992 to 2000);
- Sidorenko Sergey Nikolaevich (from 2000 to 2005);
- Chernykh Natalya Anatolyevna (from 2005 to 2016);
- Redina Margarita Mikhailovna (from 2016 to the present).

To obtain practical knowledge, students are sent to practice at enterprises and organizations in Russia, for an internship at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Undergraduate
The Faculty of Ecology organizes training in only two specialties. One of them is “ecology and nature management” (training bachelors-ecologists for various enterprises, departments, units of environmental authorities). In this specialty, attention is paid to the study of all the disciplines provided for by the plan. Students learn both professional subjects and general education (physics, chemistry, biology, geography, etc.). The second specialty of the Faculty of Ecology of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia is “Energy and Resource Saving Processes in Chemical Technology, Petrochemistry and Biotechnology”. It receives less applications from applicants (compared with "ecology and nature management"). This is a more complex specialty. From its name it is clear what in the future it will be necessary to do (create, implement and operate energy and resource-saving technologies, environmentally friendly technologies in production).
Master programs
The double degree program was mentioned above, but it is not the only one at the master's program at the Faculty of Ecology. Bachelor graduates at this stage of education have a lot to choose from. In the direction of "ecology and nature management" there are several programs - "rational nature management", "waste recycling", etc. There is a program in English - "Economics of Natural Resources Management".
Still at the magistracy there is a separate economic direction. Within its framework, the educational program "Environmental Economics" is being implemented.
