Overview

Audi 80 is a very reliable car, which with proper operation and timely maintenance can last for decades. And the repair of this car is not very expensive, because a lot of both original and non-original elements are produced on it.

In 1986, the car survived the restyling, after which the people began to call it "barrel". In 1990, a new restyling brought a new version of the body - B4, due to which the body shape has changed, as well as the radiator grill is now located on the hood cover. 15-inch wheels were considered standard for this model. The ability to increase the luggage space from 430 to 710 liters has also become an important plus for such a small car.

The engine range included both 1.6-liter and 1.9-liter. Power began at 72 and ended at 174 horsepower.

The galvanized body allowed the car not to rust for a long time. But this does not save when the zinc coating is damaged. When selecting this vehicle for purchase, it is worth looking at the body for the presence of bugs.

There are no questions on the running gear. But given the age of the car, elements such as brake pads, ball bearings, shock absorbers and other parts are most often replaced.

The most common problem is the transmission, namely the cylinder. But serious problems are found in the entire gearbox of high-mileage cars.

The car interior is not unique. Conventional materials, namely fabric, plastic, are found most often. But in the top versions, the car has a leather interior, which over time begins to crack. Therefore, it is very difficult to find an Audi 80 with perfect seats and a front panel. On the center console are nondescript air conditioner vents, which are located vertically.

Overview

In September 1987, the start of sales of the 90th series in the sedan began. Unlike the 80th series, the new one had a more premium trim, functionality and technical specifications.

The engine range included 2-liter gasoline engines, as well as diesel engines. For the US market, a 2.3-liter engine with a capacity of 135 horsepower was produced. Rarely can you find an economical engine of 2 and 2.3 liters.

Audi 90 B3 was produced from 1987 to 1991. This series is the last in the line of the 90th series. Audi 90 Quattro - all-wheel drive version, which had an engine with 160 horsepower and a volume of 2.3 liters.

The elite model was considered a version with a five-liter engine, which was produced in the back of B2. This version had a security system that replaced a system with airbags. But this system was an option, the cost of such an addition is 1000 German marks, which in terms of that rate is 40,000 rubles.

Unlike the Audi 80, the Audi 90 has become wider. The front optics now have high beams. Fog lights are located near the direction indicators. The front and rear bumpers were painted in body color. Also, electronics was integrated into the top versions, which controlled almost all the technical components, including the differential, engine and much more.

Reviews

The pluses of the Audi 80 and 90 include:

  • German build quality;
  • reliability;
  • comfort, as for a middle-aged car;
  • inexpensive service;
  • sound insulation;
  • dynamics and controllability;
  • trunk volume;
  • low fuel consumption;
  • patency due to clearance.

The disadvantages include only a stiffer suspension, which is a little annoying when driving along a bumpy road, as well as a gearbox, which often becomes the subject of repair work.

At the moment, for its price, the Audi 80 and Audi 90 have virtually no competitors, except that the BMW 3 Series of the same year. But the service at Audi is much cheaper than at BMW, which makes this car ideal for a small budget.
