One of the oldest classical universities in Ukraine is the national Chernivtsi University named after Yuriy Fedkovich. There is an educational institution for more than 140 years. University location and history of its creation
The city of Chernivtsi in the Chernivtsi region is famous for various sights and monuments of architecture. Among them is the building of the Chernivtsi National University. It is located on Kotsyubinsky Street, 2. The university carries out educational activities in the magnificent building of a modern city. It was built in 1864–1882. The design of the building was developed by the Czech architect and philanthropist Joseph Glavka.
And now a little history. Chernivtsi National University was founded in 1875 in accordance with the decree of the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph. An educational institution lasted a little more than 40 years. At the beginning of the 20th century, the lands on which the university was located were annexed to Romania. Because of this, the school was renamed the Romanian University and assigned it the name Carol I. A few years before the Great Patriotic War, the lands became part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. The university was again renamed. It received its current name and status in 2000.
Educational Organization Structure
At the time of opening, the university was a small educational institution. In its organizational structure, there were only 3 faculties related to philosophy, theology and law. At the moment, Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovich is a large and famous university in Ukraine. More than 19 thousand students study in it.
The organizational structure of the educational organization is represented by 2 institutes - biology, chemistry and bioresources, and computer and physical-technical sciences. There are also 12 faculties:

- construction, architecture and arts and crafts;
- psychological and pedagogical;

Institute of Biology, Chemistry and Bioresources
Each unit of the Chernivtsi National University named after Yuri Fedkovich is of interest. But institutions deserve special attention. They are young structural units that have arisen as a result of the union of previously formed faculties. Consider the Institute of Biology, Chemistry and Bioresources. It is located on Lesi Ukrainki Street, 25. Previously, 2 faculties functioned in this building - chemical and biology, ecology and biotechnology. It was on their basis that a modern institute was formed.

Institute of Computer and Physical-Technical Sciences
In 2013, the Institute of Computer and Physicotechnical Sciences began offering educational services at the Chernivtsi National University. This structural unit was new. It was created as a result of combining 3 branches. The institute included: the Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and the Faculty of Computer Science. The goal of creating a large institute was to combine the efforts of scientists, conduct joint activities in solving scientific and technical problems and carry out developments.
Throughout the years since the opening of the institute, employees have been doing everything necessary for its rapid development. Today, the former Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Computer Science constitute a single powerful educational and scientific structure. The training is conducted in a huge number of areas related to information communications and engineering, physics, electronics and electrical engineering, computer technology.
University teaching staff
