Since the publication of the first front-wheel drive Volga auto classics, more than a dozen years have passed. Time passed, but as it turned out, the car factory simply did not have decent concepts for the development of this area.

In 2008, the car underwent minimal changes regarding the replacement of wide door moldings with narrow ones. A year later, one of the VAZ subsidiaries completed the modernization of the VAZ-21144. The characteristics of the new version indicate that the car received a new injector 16-valve engine (1.6 l., 89 hp). Modernized and other significant nodes. New ones were installed on the VAZ-21144: a 5-speed gearbox, enhanced clutch and ventilated front brake discs.
The dynamics of the car has increased markedly, fuel consumption has decreased, and a slightly lower clearance allows you to confidently enter the turn at high speed.
