Everyone who has their own personal plot should have a barbecue on it. You should not immediately run to the store and buy it, it is quite possible to build a brazier with your own hands. If necessary, you can make both stationary and portable. Both those and others have a number of their advantages and disadvantages. The stationary barbecue is more complete, but tied to one place. A do-it-yourself brazier, which is usually made of metal, is convenient to install anywhere, but its drawback is strong heating during operation, and also it is damaged by corrosion over time and is therefore not very durable.
In order to make a brazier with your own hands, you need to have basic building skills, as well as skills when conducting welding.
Stationary BBQ
The most simple and fast you can build a brazier out of brick. This article presents the construction of the most simple, but at the same time fully functional design.
In order to determine how high the brick barbecue should be , you need to bend your hands and imagine that you are holding a barbecue. It is of this height that there should be a design on which it will be convenient for you to grill kebabs. A width of 30 centimeters and a depth of one brick, that is, 12 centimeters will be enough.
In order to do the brazier with your own hands, it is necessary to take into account such moments:
- provide a canopy over it to protect from rain, and it is also advisable to use special water-repellent compounds during construction, this will significantly extend its service life;
- if you plan to cook a lot of barbecue at a time, then you should think about an additional blower, which will allow you to maintain a high temperature of coal for a longer time;
- so that over time the brazier does not lose its original appearance, it is necessary to impregnate it with special heat-resistant impregnation or varnish;
- in order to effectively use all the heat, it is necessary to build the width of the furnace, which will be equal to the width of the skewers;
- remember that for the construction of the brazier, stone from buta is not suitable, they can only be lined;
- To ensure good combustion and to prevent the formation of soot, it is necessary to think about creating a smoke collector.
Barbecue construction stages:
- first you need to dig a hole for the foundation, a depth of 60 cm is enough, and its dimensions are 160 * 80 cm;
- a layer of sand of the order of 10 cm is poured at the bottom of this pit;
- perform wooden formwork and fill the foundation, for its strength it is necessary to use a metal mesh or reinforcement;
- after the foundation has hardened, waterproofing is laid and the brazier is laid out;
- after the masonry is completed, it is polished and varnished.
When constructing a stationary brazier with your own hands, you should remember that the use of rubble stone is possible only as a cladding, to build a firebox you need to use a special refractory brick, only in this case you can count on a long period of service of your brazier, in the chimney it is better to make the so-called βfireplace tooth β, which will increase traction.
Barbecue with metal do-it-yourself
For the basis of such a barbecue, it is best to use a metal barrel. It is also necessary to prepare a metal corner, door hinges, wheels for the ability to move the barbecue and a metal handle.
For work, you will need a welding machine, a grinder and a jigsaw for cutting metal. All the work to create this brazier can be done by one person. From the corner you need to prepare two side and two vertical racks, from which the frame for the barbecue is made. After that, a barrel is installed on the completed frame. The drain hole of the barrel should be turned back, and it will serve to remove smoke. Then the grill cover is cut out, which is attached using loops and a handle is attached to it.
