Joan Jett is an American singer who performs rock music. Actress, producer and songwriter. An extraordinary and bright rebel, managed to find a path to fame, which was by no means easy. And as you know, if you suffer for a long time ...
Childhood and youth
Joan Jett was born on September 22, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When Joan was 11 years old, she and her parents moved to Los Angeles. From a young age, she stood out among her peers in a bright style, a love of rock and cool motorcycles. When Joan was a teenager, she and her friends ran away from home at night and secretly from mom and dad to attend concerts of her favorite bands.
The most significant hard rock performer for her at that time was the popular Susie Cuatro, who had a strong influence on Jett's development as a singer. She borrowed an image and a careless hairstyle from the idol of youth. Sometimes, hoping to look at her idol out of the corner of her eye, Joan guarded her at the entrance to the hotel. She also wore shoes throughout her youth, on the wooden sole of which was written on the side: βSusie Cuatroβ. Well, after her father presented her with a guitar, she went headlong into music and songwriting.
The beginning of a musical career
As a teenager, Joan created her own musical group, performing with him throughout the city. One of the lucky days, their famous producer Kim Fowley heard their music and decided to become their manager. After some time, he gave a new name to their group - "Runaways". Soon they recorded four albums that did not become popular in the United States. However, their music was to the taste of the Japanese and the Los Angeles audience, worshiping hard rock.
In Japan, they simply caused a flurry of emotions among the public, becoming the most popular group among young people. But the group, having existed for several years, eventually broke up in 1979. It was believed that the reason for this was frequent quarrels and misunderstandings within the female team. Also, some sources claimed that the group members took drugs and therefore could not focus on teamwork.
Further career Joan Jett
After the collapse of the Runaways, Jett moved to New York, deciding to start a solo career. And already in 1980, she released her first album. But I had to record it on my own, because the recording studios did not want to deal with her. The album was supposed to be different from the punk rock in which the band Runaways played, and was recorded in the style of rock and roll. Sales of the self-recorded album, surprisingly, had good performance. And soon, singer Joan Jett signed a very tempting contract with Boardwalk records. It was decided to rewrite the first album in a new sound and make it better.
After which Jett recorded the second album, and here came the long-awaited moment of glory. Her new album "I love rock'n'roll" was wildly popular, took the top seems all possible ratings and surrounded Joan with a loyal army of enthusiastic admirers. She began to be invited on tour with the most famous rock bands of the time, such as Quenn, Alice Cooper and Aerosmith. Joan was one of the first performers of music in English to go to a concert in Panama and the Dominican Republic.
The output of the third disc was also well received, but it was no longer possible to repeat such popularity as the second. Over the next years of his musical career, more than 15 albums were released, and Joan Jett was able to achieve some success. Among them were successful, there were not very successful ones, but the singer did not give up and still writes music and records songs, hoping to once again repeat her former success. In 2010, a biography book about Jett's life and work was published, from Runaways to the present.
Personal life is not for strangers
Whatever a person is famous for, a curious public craves details of his personal life. Joan is no exception. A variety of novels were attributed to her, but she herself refuses to explain. Although behind the scenes, there is an opinion that Joan Jett hides his personal life for a reason. And the reason for this is her unconventional orientation. But in an interview with the singer this is a closed topic, which she categorically does not want to discuss. According to her, sexuality is not what it is worth focusing such keen attention on, it is much more important to delve deeper into her music and hear the meaning between the lines. Joan also has no children.
Such a difficult and interesting personality could not remain without attention. There is something attracting and alluring, and a drive that attracts the viewer.
