The Golden Ring of Russia is rich in monasteries and temples. Once in this or that city, you can get acquainted with its spiritual history, Suzdal is no exception. The Assumption Church in Suzdal is one of the most beautiful due to its architecture.
History until the 20th century
It all started in the XVII century, when the first wooden church was built. Although other sources convince the reader of earlier construction, according to official figures, the construction of the lower part of the temple began in the 17th century.
Time passes, the wooden Assumption Church in Suzdal, whose story is told in the article, burned to the ground. In its place, they decide to build a stone temple, which happens in 1650. Again, data on construction vary, and there is no accurate documentary information.
70 years pass, in the 20s of the 18th century a severe fire breaks out in the city, which destroyed most of the buildings. He did not pass by the Assumption Church (Suzdal - the city in question). Due to the disaster, it was necessary to slightly reconstruct the structure. In the XVII-XVIII centuries, a chapel was built in honor of the Monks Sergius and Nikon of Radonezh and a bell tower was rebuilt.
History in the 20th century
The Assumption Church in Suzdal, the photo of which can be seen below, suffered greatly after the revolution. Information has been preserved about how the temple was wanted to be demolished in order for the valuable brick to go to the construction needs of the political isolator, which was then in the Savior-Euthymius Monastery. The corresponding petition was addressed to the director of the city museum, putting him before a choice: either he gives permission for the demolition of the Assumption Church (Suzdal, Vladimir Region), or they get rid of the Afanasyevsky church. A man was forced to make a terrible decision to demolish the last church, for the Assumption was an architectural ensemble. The bell tower was connected to the aisle, and this was the value of the temple.
Alas, it was not possible to preserve the ensemble, as the director of the museum wanted. The Assumption Church was destroyed along with the bell tower. The restoration of the temple began in 1958.

To help the pilgrim
The schedule of the Assumption Church (Suzdal, Vladimir Region) can be found above. This section deals with helping new pilgrims. The latter refers to those who have just begun to approach God.
Women visiting the temple should take care of the headdress. It can be a scarf, a beautiful hat or a hood. Men at the entrance to the temple take off their cap (cap, hood).
In the church shop you can buy candles, write notes on health and tranquility, order the necessary treasure. Samples of writing notes are usually available in every temple. If there are none, then the full names of the baptized relatives should be written in the genitive case. For example, Margarita, Alexander, Olga.
Before you attach to the icons (that is, kiss the image), women wash lipstick. It is undesirable to go into the temple wearing makeup, but ideally, as well as wearing a skirt.
The candle is put like this: first light the wick, then slightly melt its tip.
For those who are thinking of attending a service, the rules for staying in the temple are almost the same. There are several nuances, they are presented in the list:
They arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of the service, so as not to interfere with the worshipers, making their way to the icons.
If there is a need for confession and communion, they prepare for the sacraments in advance.
They speak for three days before the sacrament without tasting fast food. The last are considered animal dishes: meat, milk, cottage cheese, eggs. The night before, they read the follow-up to Holy Communion and the three canons with the Akathist. They are found in Orthodox prayer books sold in church shops.
It is better to confess on Saturday night, because on Sunday morning there is often a crowd of participants. The priest physically lacks the strength to profess everyone as the newcomer demands.
And the last nuance regarding women. On critical days you cannot confess and receive communion. In general, during uncleanness it is advisable to refrain from visiting the temple for a week.
