An important detail of a modern engine is the idle valve. Out of ignorance, many motorists can often call it an idle sensor. In domestic VAZ cars, this device is called the idle speed regulator, in GAZ - the additional air regulator, and in carburetor engines - the electro-pneumatic valve.
The idle valve performs the following function: supplies additional air to the intake manifold, bypassing the throttle, which helps to keep the engine idle within the limits specified by the manufacturer. Idle valves can be different in design and execution, depending on the type of engine and make of the car, but the function they perform is unchanged. So, for example, the idle solenoid valve , relying on a variety of sensor readings, is driven by an electronic control unit.
The car owner should know that for optimal performance, you need to observe not only the cleanliness of the vehicle interior and body, but also periodically clean and rinse certain mechanisms. For example, for stable idle running, as well as easy and, no less important, smooth winding-up of the car even in winter frosts, it is necessary to periodically flush the idle valve.
The pleasant effect of the procedure will be immediate. Naturally, it is better to do this work with specialists. But if you have perfectly studied the structure of your car, and you know firsthand where the idle valve is located, then you can perform this procedure yourself, thereby saving money. Moreover, for this work you only need a set of screwdrivers, sealant, WD-40 and free time.
After you have correctly located the idle valve, disconnect the duct pipe and other connectors from it. Then unscrew the mounting bolts. There is a gasket between the intake manifold and the valve, put it in a safe place so as not to lose it, like the bolts.
Next, we proceed to disassemble the idle valve.
But this must be done very carefully, as in the design, in addition to the idle valve itself, there may be “auxiliary” valves, which are often small in size and also spring-loaded, and looking for a dropped small spring somewhere is not a pleasant experience. In general, in the entire structure there are a lot of small parts, these are small copper washers, and a rubber seal, etc. Therefore, the entire procedure should be performed very carefully to avoid unwanted loss of important and necessary details.
After analysis "for parts" everything must be thoroughly washed with "VDshkoy" or any other liquid with similar properties. You can start with the assembly of the mechanism. Motorists advise to lubricate the joint of the valve and the metal gasket (body) on both sides with sealant. Only without fanaticism, since the gaps there are very small. Next, screw the idle valve into place, attach all the connectors, if necessary, do not forget to adjust the idle speed.
