Jeep's new compact crossover was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show . This event took place in March, and in August 2014, an SUV with the unusual name "Renegade" was shown in Moscow as part of the International Automobile Exhibition. The meaning of the word “renegade” in the direct interpretation is “apostate”. Perhaps the car was named that way because of the non-standard appearance. The model was created on the Fiat SCCS platform - Small Common Components System, which has already served as the basis for the 2012 Fiat 500L . Jeep "Renegade" in its overall dimensions was smaller than the smallest crossover, known as the "Compass", by as much as 20 centimeters. Representatives of the Jeep company believe that the new SUV is a kind of record in terms of minimization, and it is simply impossible to create a car of even smaller sizes, since it will not be a crossover, but a children's windup toy.

Externally, the new crossover corresponds to the style of American SUVs and, despite being compact, gives the impression of a full member of the Jeep family. The Renegade model is, first of all, the next development of a well-known automobile manufacturer.

It seems that the Renegade is a brand new car in the SUV class. The car combines the features of a miniature jeep with the parameters of a full crossover.

A small SUV named Renegade is a surprisingly solid, solid “adult” car. The rear position lights are made in the form of red square shades with diagonal cross-shaped inserts of white color. Lanterns look unusual and original. The back of the car gives the impression of some kind of combat device, the configuration of the trunk lid is unusual and even illogical, but it looks like a masterpiece of design art.

“Ultramodern”, “stylish”, “comfortable” - all these epithets fully correspond to the characteristics of the interior decoration of the “Renegade”. The painstaking work of a whole team of designers who successfully placed a set of seats in the cabin, made in accordance with the requirements of ergonomics, is felt. On the dashboard, on the flanks, there are round dials of the speedometer and tachometer, and between them stood a seven-inch display with an infinite number of options. In the center of the console is inserted a full-fledged miniature TV with the ability to receive software TV shows. There is also a DVD viewing function. In fact, this is a whole multimedia complex of U-connect format with touch controls. Additionally connected: telephone, reverse camera, audio system and navigation. Climate control, heater and ventilation variators are located a little lower.
Five people are freely accommodated in the cabin, the seats are adjustable in all directions, and also fold up, forming a flat platform. With the rear sofas folded, the luggage compartment increases to 870 liters. Upholstery of "Renegade" interior of high quality and style, natural materials - suede, velor, like leather. As a standard, the crossover is equipped with front-wheel drive, this is its design norm. But in fact, the car is available with a Jeep Active Drive all-wheel drive, with a Selec-Terrain complex, which provides four modes: normal car, sports, snow movement and sand-mud mode.
There is a version of the Trailhawk unit operating in the "rock-rock" mode, with a central differential lock, which greatly facilitates the descent from a steep mountain. In addition, when driving along mountain trails, you can use a special reduction gear. All wheels are equipped with disc, ventilated brakes, an electric power steering is attached to the steering mechanism. Renegade ground clearance ranges from 200 to 224 millimeters, depending on version. The car is able to "walk" through water up to 480 mm deep, which cannot be said about other compact crossovers.
Prices and specifications
It is assumed that at the beginning of 2015 the Renegade jeep will appear on the automotive market in Russia. Prices have not yet been announced, and according to preliminary data, the cost of the basic version may be approximately 700-800 thousand rubles. In the configuration: seven airbags, full power accessories, climate control and a whole series of additional privileges. The package will also include a novelty - a permanent monitoring system for the blind zone, lane control, speed reduction with excessive tilting of the body in a corner.

Off-road vehicles and crossovers are a special breed of car. They never ride just like that - they are sure to start competing. Jeep "Renegade", the characteristics of which speak of his fighting spirit, will certainly participate in any competitions. Competitions of various kinds, on the highway or on city streets, cross-racing or street racing are expected by Renegade in the spring of 2015, when the first lots of cars go on sale in Russia.
