Ja Rule is an extinct hip-hop legend

Ja Rule has nothing to do with the Rastaman culture. Ja is short for Jeffrey Atkins. The guy was born in the New York slums of Queens. Ja Rul went through a harsh school of life, in which drug trafficking wars over the territory met. He was a vivid representative of the thug life movement, which originated under Tupac. Collaborated with Irving Lorenzo - this is a beatmaker, who later became the legend of criminal America.

Creative way

1990 - Ja Rule has an idea to create a group and invite DMX and Jay-Z there. It all started successfully, together they even recorded the soundtrack to the film. However, further cooperation was unsuccessful, and a decision was made to reclassify the failed group into the label Murder Inc., which now consisted only of Ja Rule and Lorenzo. As a reminder of the trio that once existed, the song It's Murder remained, which hit Jah's debut album and became a hit.

Ja in a hoodie

The first album of Ja Rule called Venni Vetti Vecci reminded the listeners of the rapper DMX in all respects - music, themes and even voice. Recording Rule 3:36's second album, Ja decides to make some changes in the music. And this step allows him to break into the radio. Since thieves' ballads were well received, on the third album, Ja continues to move in this direction. A record called Pain is Love is still considered the rapper’s best work.

Next, there is a joint work with Nas, which at that time was in conflict with Jay-Z and was looking for support from fellow countrymen from Murder Inc. There were rumors in the streets that Nas would release their next album on this label. However, their joint work resulted in the only track Pledge, and this was the end of their partnership.

Jah with the clock

After the release of The Last Temptation in 2002, rapper Ja Rule continues to search for himself in the movies. The first popularity as an actor was after the movie "Fast and the Furious." Outstanding acting skills were not found in him.

Movies with Ja Rule

Ja began his career as an actor in 2000, and the last activity was in 2013. During this period, he starred in 18 films, among which the following can be distinguished:

  • “Hip Hop Witch” (2000);
  • “Scary Movie 3” (2003);
  • “Attack on the 13th sector” (2005);
  • Risen from the Ashes (2007).

Conflict with 50 Cent

Since 2003, for Jah begins the "black streak". Firstly, the label’s authority was severely undermined by searches from the FBI. Because of this, I even had to change the label to The Inc., which for the audience meant losing and retreating. Secondly, Fifti's album, as they say, "shot", and in the eyes of the public Jah was trampled.

50 Cent, after listening to the songs of the label Murda Inc., began to laugh publicly at the image and songs of Jah Rul. Fifi said that he did not see Jah as a thug, and also accused him of imitating Tupac and “pop songs”. Ja did not have to wait for an answer, and in 2003 he recorded the album Blood in My Eye, where he went through all the representatives of the Shady label, except Dr. Dre. Even Eminem got it. However, the listeners could not surprise the disc with cruel and harsh songs, they considered it boring and tasteless.

Ja laughs

The conflict subsides until 2004. This year, with the support of Cool & Dre, Jah is recording the RULE album, which helps him rehabilitate his rapper career for a while and return to the big game. But after Fifi’s response with the Piggy Bank track, Jah’s success is nullifying.

In 2007, the beef got bored with both performers. Ja Rule spent a long time on his album The Mirror. And in 2009, he still finished work and uploaded the material to the Internet for free download. By that time, Ja had already lost his grip and weight in hip-hop. And the songs were performed in an outdated style. They could become hits in 2000, but not now. Fighting Fifi drowned Jah's career. As a result, two fights took place over the entire beef, a huge number of harsh phrases from both sides, accusations, insults and open threats in the massacre.

In 2012, due to problems with the law, Ja was serving a term in prison. Everything that was possible was hung on him - from tax evasion to possession of illegal weapons. Despite this, he managed to record the album PIL2, while behind bars.

Sunset rap career

In 2013, Ja was released. In the same year, his two most recent singles, Everything and Fresh Out Da Pen, appeared. And also Ja starred in the movie "I fell in love with a nun."

Once a multi-platinum artist did not appear in rap for 5 years. It would seem that it costs an experienced rapper who pulled all the artists of the label on his behalf to record several hits or even a full-fledged album and reanimate his rap career?

Jah was successful in his business, but the conflict with 50 Cent, legal problems and FBI searches severely undermined rapper status and self-confidence. Will it turn out for Jah to return to the big game an impossible task? Show the story.
