Sixteen years ago, a sports car Ferrari Enzo was first presented at a car show in France. This model is also called the F60 Enzo, but there was a lot of time left until the sixtieth anniversary of the company, so the name was dedicated to the founder of the concern: Enzo Ferrari. The Italian company has always been famous for its sports cars. Let's get acquainted with a model that is different from everyone else.
History reference
In the period from 2002 to 2004, when cars were produced, 400 supercars rolled off the assembly line. The engine impressed with its characteristics: 660 horsepower with 6 liters of cylinder capacity. The rear-wheel drive model was sold at a price of $ 660,000 (37.8 million rubles), but despite this cost, the demand for it was great.
The developers wanted to create a unique look that would raise the bar of design to a new level. Designers thought through everything to the smallest detail, and designers and engineers combined their ideas with the technical part, which ensured excellent dynamic performance.
Appearance
The basis of the Ferrari Enzo were taken racing instances of F1 competitions. The result was a body of the following sizes: length - 4702 mm, height - 1147 mm, width - 2035 mm. As a material, carbon fiber with Kevlar inserts was used. The mass of the car at rest is 1365 kg, but at 100 km / h this value increases to almost 2 tons.
The shape of the front bumper makes it clear that we have a sports car. The elongated central part resembles the nose of a hawk, swiftly rushing down for prey. Recesses are made in the hood to increase the dynamic performance of the Ferrari Enzo. On the wings of the wheel arches are rear-view mirrors that provide excellent visibility by moving them to the sides.
The head optics are recessed deep into the wings and covered with high quality glass, which ensures safety when small objects hit at high speed.
The low roof line smoothly passes into the rear compartment lid, on which a small spoiler is located. In the hind wings are impressive air intakes, which not only provide cooling, but also add spectacular appearance to the Italian.
From the side projection, it is clearly seen that the back is elongated. This is due to the placement of the engine behind the driver and passenger. We can not say about the branded alloy wheels of the Ferrari company, having the shape of a five-pointed star.
But the most important feature of the appearance of the Ferrari Enzo is the way to open the doors. They rise up, and an angle of 45 degrees makes it easy to get into the cabin.
Italian Salon
The interior of the Italian supercar is a storehouse of functionality. Black carbon, aluminum and even leather - all this does not create any appeal. More like the inner space of the ordinary. At the same time, according to visual assessment, the 2004 Ferrari Enzo is much inferior to its competitors.
The emphasis in the cabin is on the functionality of the cockpit. In front of the driver is the steering wheel, which has many settings and controls for additional vehicle options. The dashboard is made in the traditional "Ferrari" style.
Two large yellow dials show the speed and engine speed (shown in the photo Ferrari Enzo). The backlight looks pretty impressive, but at the same time, elaborate and unusual. All buttons on the front console are lit with LED elements. Inside, everything is replete with carbon.
With all the capabilities of the car, the cabin is very crowded. This is the result of not only the use of black colors, but also the presence of small windows that let in little light. As is customary for sports car manufacturers, seat buckets are custom made. Therefore, not every person can accommodate comfortably in it.
By the way, there is no back row at all, behind the driver’s head is the rear window of the engine compartment cover.
Technical equipment
The 6 liter Ferrari Enzo V12 engine produces a maximum of 660 horsepower. Excellent torque allows you to overcome the speedometer 100 km / h after 3.3 seconds. A six-speed robotic gearbox with rear-wheel drive allows you to accelerate to 348 km / h.
In 2002, it was the fastest and most expensive sports car in the world. On its basis, many famous models were created, including the famous Aston Martin.
Vehicle Features
A distinctive feature of technical equipment is the low placement of components and assemblies. As a result, the center of gravity is the same as that of racing cars. Fuel tanks are installed between the cab and the wall of the engine compartment. Their volume is 110 liters.
The motor is fixed at two points through silent blocks, and the gearbox is at one. This design reduces vibration on the body. In front of the monocoque there are aluminum honeycombs that compensate for the energy of a frontal impact.
As with all sports cars, carbon-ceramic brake discs are used for reliable braking on the Ferrari Enzo. They are considered durable when used in any environment. Super low profile tires allow you to maintain an unrealistically low level of clearance.
Interesting fact
During the global economic crisis in 2008, the company had difficult times. Subsequently, the manufacturer put up for sale a large number of Enzo with a total value of about 1,600,000 US dollars (95 million rubles). These were models at record low prices.
One of the lucky ones who managed to acquire a sports car was a British businessman living in the United Arab Emirates.
He was not satisfied with the cars for long. Due to traffic violations, the court sentenced the Briton to pay a fine of $ 30,000 (1.7 million rubles) or a prison term. The solution was found quickly - the entrepreneur left the car and disappeared.
Supercar stood in a fine parking lot for almost 2 years under the scorching sun. As a result, without waiting for the owner, the government auctioned Ferrari.
The relevance of the model in Russia
Many car enthusiasts still dream of a Ferrari Enzo, but it is likely to remain on the wish list. The number of cars produced is 359, with each costing about 45.5 million rubles.
The exclusivity of a sports car is a positive aspect, but there are also disadvantages. Replacing the wheel will cost the owner a pretty penny, since not every car service will be ready to help you. Spare parts are purchased exclusively to order, and they will have to wait a lot of time. Initially, you will need to send a request to the factory, then there will be a check - whether you really own the car, and only after that you will be sent the order.
Despite all the difficulties associated with owning a sports monocoque, there are currently many who wish to purchase this luxury vehicle. It is worth saying only that in the case of a purchase, you will be included in the list of lucky possessors of this Italian-made masterpiece.
