VIA "Blue Bird" - discography

A lot of hits and sincerely beloved songs in the 1970s and 80s were presented to the audience by the members of the Blue Bird group, whose discography by 1991 totaled more than 20 records. But this article is not about numerous singles and collections from the legacy of Belarusian musicians, but about eight major albums released between 1977 and 1988 (the group itself existed from 1972 to 1991). So, the discography of VIA "Blue Bird" with information and album covers is presented to the reader's attention.

"Blue bird"

The discography of "Blue Bird" begins with the album of the same name, released in 1977. To avoid confusion, ensemble fans often referred to the album "Mother's Plate" - after the title song. But in 1996, one of the separated VIA lineups released the disc "Mother's Plate", and now music lovers call the album simply - "The Blue Bird of 1977". Among the eleven songs recorded on the debut "longplayer", in addition to the already mentioned, included hits such as "Maple", "Non-flying weather" and "Hello, song".

"Heart to Heart"

"Heart to Heart"

In his work VIA "Blue Bird" was largely guided by The Beatles, which is noticeable in the design of the first albums. And if the picture taken at the transition for the 1977 record only indirectly hints at the Abbey Road of the Liverpool Four, then the cover of the 1978 disc "From Heart to Heart" is a clear allusion to the debut Beatles Please Please Me. The mood is similar to The Beatles and the songs included in this album, lyrical and naive, of which the audience most remembered “This is a mistake”, “Between you and me”, as well as the title song.

"Alone with myself"

Brightly decorated with the image of the group’s symbol - a fabulous blue bird - in 1980 the third studio album “Alone with You” was released. A curious fact is that the composer and poet Sergey Dyachkov, the main member of another Soviet rock group, “Flowers”, participated in the creation of all the songs (earlier the album included compositions by different authors). For the disc, the songs "Mom's record", "Buy me a ball", as well as new compositions were already performed.

"My love is alive"

"My love is alive"

A significant place in the discography of The Blue Bird is occupied by the 1981 album My Love Is Alive. It is enough to even look at its cover: the disk was prepared for export, and therefore for the first time the names were written in both Russian and English. Almost all the songs from this disc to this day remain VIA hits: “So, what are you,” “The Eighth Miracle,” “The Last Letter”, “That Is Not a Dawn Clear” and others.

"Blue Bird" at the Luzhniki Sports Palace

"Blue Bird" in the Luzhniki Stadium

The only live album in the main discography of The Blue Bird is recorded during a performance in Luzhniki in 1983. On this disc for the first time in LP format, fans were able to hear the songs "White Ship", "Take Care of Women" and "I am Coming to Meet You", which have not lost popularity to this day. In total, the composition included 9 tracks. The cover design is also of genuine interest: the main members of the collective rush up on the wings of an iron bird - as a symbol of their musical progressiveness and modernity.

"Autumn sketch"

The 1986 album Autumn Etude occupies a special place in the discography of The Blue Bird. This is the first concept album not only for the group, but for all Soviet rock of that time. All songs are interconnected by a common theme and an invisible history, permeated with the same mood as a whole, indivisible work. Significant compositions of the album: “Our summer has gone”, “Your dream”, “And I ask you about this”, “Autumn etude”, “Leaf fall”.

"Underground crossing"

In 1987, an album was released called Underpass. He was not as successful as his predecessor, and many fans noticed a decline in enthusiasm in the work of artists. This was the first bell to the imminent collapse of the VIA. However, some songs from this disc remain recognizable. This is “Someday,” “Hello, how do you live?”, “I am not without you,” and “Childhood.” This album also contains a dedication song to French pop star Edith Piaf.

The discography of The Blue Bird ended with the 1988 White Wharf album. After the release of this disc, the ensemble existed for another three years, but only in the framework of concert activity.

After 1991, another 6 albums were released under the authorship of The Blue Bird. However, they created and recorded their various groups, assembled by former members of the VIA and retaining their former name. To get acquainted with these albums, you should look for discographies of the groups "The Blue Bird of Alexei Komarov", "The Blue Bird of Sergey Drozdov" or other participants who took with them a particle of the famous VIA.
