Making the best decision is not the same as just making a decision as a whole. Do you think that it’s not enough just to solve the problem, but you need to resolve the situation in the best way? Welcome to the camp of neurotic perfectionists. But seriously, then every person from time to time in life comes to the realization of the concept of “hopeless situations”. And you need to gain experience interacting with them.
Two conditions
In fact, even the term itself is highly controversial. What is a hopeless situation? This is a state of affairs in which certain actions are required, and they and only they can help change the situation. That is, the only right decision and the impossibility of abandoning this decision are assumed.
Technique is easier than life.
As you see, there are two conditions. The first condition is met for a huge number of situations in technical systems. That is, in situations where everything is simplified by a person (and the technical system is deliberately made simple), it turns out that the solution is unique and correct. That is, this is the first criterion for a hopeless situation.
Just non-action
But the second is more difficult. It is almost never observed - therefore there are no hopeless situations. So, in almost every situation, you can completely abandon the action. Yes, it will also cost certain difficulties, but this is solution two. So, the situation is no longer hopeless.
Cornered?
You may think that if a problem has one solution, then you cannot assign it the characteristic under discussion. But it should be remembered that hopeless situations are called so not because of a lack of a solution, but because of a lack of freedom in the process of trying to improve the situation. It turns out the assignment of status to this state of affairs is a little complicated. That is, the situation without decisions at all and the situation with the inevitability of action with one solution option are hopeless situations.
Emotions get in the way
However, it must be remembered that a person’s assessment of a problem is often hampered by negative emotional perception. For example, it was found that poor people tend to make the worst financial decisions when necessary, decide on an unplanned waste of money. Negative emotional perception worsened the situation several times. And the intelligence of decision makers fell by a few dozen points. Therefore, it is so important to learn how to work with emotions in difficult situations.
Subjectivity makes understanding difficult
It is also imperative to be aware that you can see the situation differently from those around you. And it is very possible that you do not notice the additional exit options. Therefore, if you encounter “hopeless situations” too often, then you should make some friends who can help with the analysis of the situation.
A little more psychology
And remember that the course of action begins "in the head." Therefore, it is not so easy to solve the problem if you have already mentally failed. Of course, this does not mean that you should build a fairy tale using the methods of positive thinking and try to believe in it. Leave it to the gullible esoteric lovers. But do not give up ahead of time. According to statistics, in difficult situations, the third or fourth decision often works, provided that the person does not give up. But before this, one must not stop active actions!
