A bit of history: how it all began

The middle of the XIX century. A galvanic institution is being created in St. Petersburg, where officers and soldiers are trained in the electrical engineering specialty new for that time.

1919 year. In Russia, devastation, war, famine. But in St. Petersburg, the Revolutionary Military Council on the basis of galvanic courses creates an electrical school for military personnel.

November 8, 1919 - this day is considered to be the day of foundation of the Military Communications Academy in St. Petersburg, now famous throughout the world.

After a series of organizational transformations, by 1935 the educational institution consisted of 6 faculties and extension courses for heads of liaison departments. During 1932-1936 on Benois Ave. (now called Tikhoretsky), a separate military camp with educational and residential buildings was built for the country’s training center.

Military Academy of Communications

The Academy finally became subordinate to the Red Army communications leadership in 1933 and at the same time received the name of S. M. Budyonny, the hero of the Civil War. At the same time, striving to unify the preparatory system, the academy was being transformed, it became the Military Electrotechnical Academy of Communications.

Subsequent reorganizations led to the fact that instead of one higher educational institution, two were formed, which then merged again. In the late 90s, three military schools located in Kemerovo, Ryazan and Ulyanovsk joined as faculties. Nowadays, the branch is also opened in Krasnodar.

The latest changes took place in 2008, when the higher educational institution received its final name - Military Academy of Communications (St. Petersburg) and the honorary name of S. M. Budenny, USSR Marshal.

The Academy has 6 faculties:

  • radio communications;
  • telecommunication multi-channel systems;
  • automated control systems;

Training is conducted under the programs:

  1. Secondary vocational. Full-time study for almost 3 years. A graduate university qualifies as a “technician” and receives the military rank of “ensign”.
  2. Higher education (specialty). The training lasts 5 years, graduates become lieutenants.
  3. Further education (master's program). The training lasts 2 years.

  • Adjuncture - 3 years full-time or 4 in absentia;
  • Doctoral studies - 3 years.

Order of receipt

To become a cadet of the St. Petersburg Military Academy of Communications, the reviews of which are excellent, you must submit an application to the local commissariat. Civilians must do this before April 1, military personnel report to their superiors before March 1.

The personal file formed in the commissariat goes to the university, where the selection committee decides on the admission of the person to the exams.

Professional selection

To receive education at the Military Academy of Communications of St. Petersburg, applicants must be approved by the selection committee. What criteria are taken into account:

  • whether the candidate is suitable from a health point of view - a medical examination is carried out at the academy;
  • how fit psychologically - psychologists are testing;
  • how suitable in physical terms - it is necessary to pass the standards.

Exam in physical preparation provides for passing 3 standards:

  • running 3 km and 100 m, for boys also pulling up on the crossbar;
  • running for 1 km and 100 m, for girls also tilts from a prone position.

Upon receipt, the commission evaluates the results of the exam in a number of subjects; exams can also be conducted on them:

  • Russian language - writing is written;
  • in writing physicist;
  • writing math.

For secondary education, a certification score is taken into account. The minimum points are set for 2019:

  • specialized mathematics - 27;
  • Russian language - 36;
  • physics - 36.

Terms of professional selection

June and July are the months when students are selected for the Military Academy of Communications. You can preliminarily familiarize yourself with the conditions of admission and training at Open Days. They take place twice: in April and November.

Field exercises

Those called for testing get the opportunity to come to St. Petersburg for free, where they are also provided with free accommodation and even food. In case of failure, the candidate has the right to return home also for free.

What does the student of the academy get

Admission to a military university is the receipt of the status of a soldier, with all the benefits, compensation and payments that are established by law:

  • live in hostels for free;
  • receive food, clothing and a scholarship (15-22 thousand rubles per month);
  • receive benefits when purchasing tickets to museums, concerts and exhibitions;
  • can go free of charge once a year to where they intend to spend their holidays.

The academic year at the Military Academy of Communications begins in August, but cadets do not sit at their desks, because a month is spent on combined arms training. During the year, students receive 2 vacations:

  • winter - a crescent.
