Former head of the presidential administration of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Sheiman is a very mysterious person. Despite the fact that he is always under the gun of journalists, there is practically no data about him. Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich: biography of early years
Victor Sheiman was born in the village of Soltanishki, Voronovo district. It happened on May 26, 1958. Nothing is known about his parents, as the politician prefers to remain silent about his personal life. As for Viktor himself, he once admitted that from an early age he dreamed of wearing a uniform. Therefore, he saw his future either in law enforcement or in the service of the state.
That is why Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich first entered the Tank Higher Command School, and then to the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. In addition, this statesman can boast of having served in the Airborne Forces.
Military career
After demobilization, Vladimir Sheiman did not want to return to civilian life. The harsh everyday life of the military was closer to him, because he could defend his homeland. It is worth mentioning that he took part in the military campaign in Afghanistan, from where he returned to the officer rank. His colleagues described him as a steel man, able to withstand any load. In the company of Sheiman called "Tiger". This was due to the fact that he possessed the strength and grip of a wild beast. And if he had already chosen a victim, then only death could stop him. Such an unbending character helped the military to rise to the rank of major and get the position of deputy commander of the airborne division.
Transition to politics
In 1990, Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich is running for parliament in Belarus. He quite simply gets the right number of votes and soon becomes a full member of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus. Here he is given the post of secretary of the council on defense, national security and the fight against organized crime. In this position he remains until 1994.
Beginning of friendship with Alexander Lukashenko
In 1994, presidential elections are held in Belarus. In this race for the post of head of state, Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich takes the side of Alexander Lukashenko. This choice was due to the fact that the former military saw in politics an unbending will and a thirst to change the country for the better.
Young people quickly found a common language. Vitaly Sheiman even set about organizing an election campaign, which, by the way, was very successful. Thanks to her, Alexander Lukashenko has become a clear favorite among the people, which greatly frightened his competitors. As a result, on June 16, 1994, an attempt was made on Alexander Grigorievich. It happened on the roadside. Then unknown persons shot the car of the presidential candidate from the machine gun, and only by a miracle no one was injured that day. At that moment, Victor Sheiman was also present in the car, who was trying to protect the future chosen one with his body. After these events, he became not only the political associate of the president, but also one of his close friends.
Political career
After the advent of Alexander Lukashenko to power, Viktor Sheiman’s career went up sharply. Moreover, the matter was not only in the friendship of two people, but also in those qualities that the former military possessed. His tempering, combat experience and an insightful mind became the sharp sword of the state, capable of both defending and punishing.
So, the first place of work of Viktor Sheiman was the post of Secretary of State of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus. And in December 1995, he was completely promoted to the Minister of the Interior. Thus, Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich became the head of law enforcement agencies, which allowed him to completely reorganize the country's police.
The next honorary post was the position of the Prosecutor General of Belarus. He stayed in this post from 2000 to 2004. The next two years, the politician spent as head of the presidential administration of the Republic of Belarus. Such appointments were quite justified, because Sheiman had not only great management experience, but also unwavering trust on the part of Alexander Lukashenko.
After the explosion in Minsk
In March 2006, Viktor Sheiman became secretary of the Security Council of Belarus. And so, on July 4, 2008, an explosion was heard in Minsk. As the investigation will show, the terrorist act was to blame. All responsibility for this tragedy fell on Sheiman, since it was his department that was supposed to eliminate such threats.
July 8, 2008 Viktor Vladimirovich was removed from his post. However, Lukashenko’s anger did not last forever. He understood that such a miscalculation was not the fault of the Security Secretary alone. Therefore, in January 2009, the head of state appoints him as his special assistant. Today, Sheiman Viktor Vladimirovich - manager of the President of Belarus. He took up this position in January 2013 and is not going to change it soon.
