11 universities represent the system of higher education in Krasnoyarsk. Of these, 10 state and one non-state. Universities of Krasnoyarsk have different statuses. 5 of them are universities, 1 is a “federal university”, 4 institutions are institutes and 1 has the status of an academy.
The system of

State awards have also been established for young employees of educational institutions who have achieved high results in scientific research and teaching. All this contributes to the socio-economic development of the region, increasing the prestige of higher education.
The leading position in the modernization of the region’s education system is occupied by the Siberian Federal University, Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education, which was established on November 4, 2006 as part of the national Education project (Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1518). Universities of Krasnoyarsk try to be equal to this educational institution.
